A warm hello again to all Brighton fans, a few of you already know me …

Just to let you know I've done a big match preview on the Reading v Brighton game, and fullest respect shown for the Seagulls with detailed information produced equally for both sets of fans – in fact more rather more on BRIGHTON – and absolutely guaranteed no ‘wind ups’ here. It would be interesting to have any feedback from you guys. It's on our Reading FC specialist fans' site at:

Match Thread: Reading v Brighton MATCH THREAD [26/12/2011]

- Ideally I'd like to re-produce snippets from your short comments here onto our own page, especially as to how you view the game, thoughts on your own team (believe me, does interest us!), and opinions of Reading (if reproducible!) and we will always credit your user name (and forum) for any little quote ... so please pop in for a second for a quick browse! Comments tend to pick up as we approach match day, and we generally pass 100 posts and a 1,000 viewings by end of match day itself.

Predictions: RR Prediction Game: Reading v Brighton (usually a good cross section of results come out, we’re not normally arrogant by nature!)

Also, you are currently able (without signing up) to contribute to post in our open section “Rivals, but Friends”, Rivals, but Friends and even start article topics yourself as a guest – of course, language decency standards obviously apply here equally as in elsewhere on this fans’ forum site (we’re relying on only real fans coming on here!) - though passion IS welcome of course, 'cos we know that you’ll root for your team, just as we do ...

Look forward to hearing any comments, and I’ll keep in touch with match news over next few days …

I think your prediction of 4-0 is just a tad optimistic. We only lost 1-0 with 9 men for 80 minutes on Saturday, we are actually pretty astute defensively, maybe not so at the other end of the pitch admittedly. I imagine you'll win 2-1 or something but wouldn't be overly surprised if we came back with a 0-1.

Thanks guys!
Tuesday now corrected to Monday (head just not working well on dates with X-mas period ...), and yes you're right that on predictions there's an over-optimism. Perhaps(probably) our folly, and it's a result of having come unscathed through the West Ham and Leeds games, so our members (myself included) are starting to jump up and down - we always seem to go on to do 2nd half of season pushes up the table with our present manager. But it's not meant to be disrespectful, believe me, and there's no such thing as a comfortable game in the Championship.

The rivals thing I picked up here: manutdweb.com - Football rivalries: The ultimate consensus! but didn't convince me either.

Finally for now, I've got up our regular "Ref Check" on the Match thread. I hope it's enjoyable, anyway you guys fare much better with this ref than does Reading!!

Another point. Not sure how our average attendance can be below 19,000 since none of our games have been below that this season. Unless you're counting cup games?

Order of our rivals would be
1. Palace (obviously)
2. Portsmouth- not really that big any more though
3. Southampton probably nowadays, but is a bit of a fad tbh

The only things I noted when reading it were things that have already been brought up!
Looks like one of the nicer football forums out there in terms of layout and design.

No disputing the first two, but 3rd rivals could be anyone out of Cardiff, Orient, Chesterfield, Southampton, Bournemouth or Reading - depending on which season you're counting.

I'm going for current really, Cardiff are just thugs up for a fight rather than rivals. Orient, Chesterfield and Reading are all in a similar vein to Southampton in that they were topical rivalries rather than long term rivals. Bournemouth I wouldn't really count any more either.

In all honesty we don't really have a third rivalry as such and its debatable whether Portsmouth is still relevant either.

I've just watched Brian McDermott's interview, what a thoroughly decent fellow he is.

The Reading rivalry is a strange one, it reminds me of the thing we've got going with Southampton now. We've never really been big rivals, but when we were both going for the championship 2001/02 it got quite heated for a bit. I feel its settled down again, since we haven't played for so long, but it should make for a decent atmosphere on Monday, especially being a Boxing Day game.

My main Reading related memory, was watching Bremner playing for you and then having him arrive (out of the blue) at the Goldstone the following season. He was a good player and formed a decent partnership with Garry Nelson, as he had done with Trevor Senior at Reading. I wonder what he's doing now?

Yawn. I don't know how it's possible for a prediction to be made by you...you don't have a clue. Go to a game or two and your opinion might count for something.
Utter bellend.
I'm going for a 1-1 with no red cards. I know, sounds mad...

I'll see you there then? I've got much more of a clue than you.
