What about other miscreants - such as Leicester? Or would that spoil the fairy story too much?

And there is the reason to do it.

£150 million from the league alone next year, plus a minimum of £40 million from the CL.....

That is not including the money from past 2 seasons

If they don't pay up it makes a mockery of those clubs who have either paid up or accepted a transfer embargo.

Actually did they sign up to FFP? Weren't they in the Premier league when this was signed by the then 72 Leagues clubs? Which means they didn't sign up, or did they have to when they got relegated?

I could be wrong though!

Either way by entering the FL they agreed to be bound by the existing rules of the FL the option being they wouldnt have been accepted.

This is why there needs to be better communication between the FL and PL. Both leagues fall under the FA so it can't be that difficult!

Bournemouth have paid up, Leicester and QPR knew and agreed to the rules, Forrest, Fulham and Bolton all placed under transfer embargoes, lets hope sense prevails and fines are duly issued and paid. At least the poor FFP rules are then being enforced and people will know the penalties and what will happen.

At least the football league would not have to fear legal reprisals if they made a points deduction. It's so obvious it makes you wonder why they would want it to be a financial penalty instead

Err.............QPR (or any other club) could seek legal redress if there was a points deduction.

Two things...

1. That's ridiculous, but it's good that pone of us knows how this system works

2. Deduct the points then let them seek their redress... whilst in League 2.

Uefa made its first FFP ruling in April based on club accounts from the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons.
Clubs can spend up to 5m euros (£3.9m) more than they earn per assessment period, although, under this monitoring period, total losses of 45m euros (£35m) were permitted as long as clubs had owners who could cover such amounts.
From now on, the assessment will be made over a rolling three-year period.

For 2014-15, losses will still be limited to 45m euros (£35m).
For 2015-16, the monitoring period will again cover the previous three seasons, but the limit will drop to 30m euros (£25.5m).
The pattern is repeated in 2016-17 and 2017-18.
In the following years the limit will be lower, with the exact amount still to be decided.
Clubs are also obliged to meet all their transfer and employee payment commitments at all times.

I have nothing against QPR but would mention that just like with Portsmouth - Harry Rednapp is now nowhere to be seen!

QPR have produced a set of audited accounts that show a loss of only £7 million, and therefore are within the FFP boundaries. It is up to the Football League to prove otherwise. The FL have attempted to show that the £60 million loan write off is not income, and that has been rejected by QPR's lawyers and accountants. The FL have been threatened by QPR's lawyers and for all we know there could be injunctions that prevent the FL taking things further, or the FL lawyers may be concerned that the wording of the FFP rules is shaky.

I could come up with half a dozen other ways of circumnavigating FFP, it's a house of straw.
