Set my drinking record in there one Saturday when the g/f was up country at her folks. 12 pints

Only bettered on an 11 hour Millenium eve binge that saw me in bed at 11.30pm., thus missing the event

Star In The East

If you mean The Great Eastern, it would have been where Gala bingo is now, as by the bus stop, there is a 'sculpture' of a train, which I should imagine marks the site of the pub

To think the mighty Great Eastern might have pitched up at Freshfield Road, meaning it would have gone over the viaduct at Lewes Road

The Thieves' Kitchen used to be a magnificent pub, before it got renovated in the late 80s.

There used to be two pubs there the Eastern & The Great Eastern, On on the corner and one further along.

There you go, I hadn't realised that. Wally became ill in 2012 and had to close it, Lancing College have bought it, don't think it's been reopened yet. Last time I was there was for a lunch in 2012, was still as expected.
