Prevent Donald Trump from making a state visit to the United Kingdom - petition

Nobody has yet given a definite reason why this petition has any legs to stand on? So we want to ban him entering the UK for what reason? Genuinely interested.. or is it really just a case of 'we don't like your policies so ner ner ner you aren't coming in'

I've yet to read a legitimate reason that actually stands for barring him.

There is a difference between banning him entirely (which actually no one has done so far on this thread as far as I can see, and suggesting that he is not afforded a state visit, which is what the petition is asking Parliament to debate.

It is really not tricky to understand.

No I'm rich, which must make you the idiot. BTW I'm not a Trump supporter in anyway, its just the hysteria and generalisation from the mob thinking he will step down. It will make him more determined
My comment was a generalisation not specific to trump.

The US Celebrity Apprentice is currently running on BBC 1. He is working with a wide range of people from Denis Rodman, Lil Jon, Latoya Jackson, Gary Busey, Teller etc. Males and females, black and white and they all like and respect him. His children are without scandal and have been brought up well. Most rich kids end up on drugs and crashing Ferrari's so he hasn't done a bad job with his family considering Gearge Bush Jr was a nob who loved his cocaine,

If people didn’t like him and believed he was racist they wouldn’t work with him especially Denis Rodman, and if his family were dodgy we would all know about it.

That is for the Queen to decide by either accepting the suggestion of her Government or not. It is not up to lefty oiks to decide for her or them.

Surely those who are against it deciding to inform the government of their opinion is fine, though?

You know.....like a referendum or something......

Was unable to attend the protest today as I'm currently literally blind out of one eye after an operation last week (squinting ridiculously to type this now!), but would have gone down otherwise.

People protest for their own reasons, but for me it's about showing solidarity with people the world over rather than expecting the protest to 'change' Trump (or May's) policy. I've got a friend whose British Iraqi and brother lives in the US- he has now had to cancel his flight next week as he visited Baghdad in the summer as so is supposedly a risk, even though he has lived in the U.K. all his life.

So agreeing with the protest for me is a personal and political stance against a divisive policy and divisive man.I would imagine the vast majority at the protests across the country went because they wanted to show their dissatisfaction with Trump and support those who this banning affects most directly. That Niemoller quote seems especially apt to me.

Sorry your sentence doesn't read very well. Yes protest by all means but you will not change the view of either the Government nor her. Try though, why not.

Not sure Denis Rodman, who has frequently visited Kim Jong Un and endorsed the way he runs North Korea can be trusted as a great judge of character!

I just demonstrated peacefully in Brighton against Trump passing laws by executive order which are racist, break his own constitution and break international law. No violence, no smashing anything up, good mixture of people. I'm 50, most were in their 20s but ranged from 10 to 70. No Socialist Workers just lots of different people.

I think it's important to speak out before the hate gets any worse.

This thread shows that football fans are a bit shit at politics and base most of their facts on the Sun.

You sound a bit too sensible to on this board. Unfortunately, the reality is Trump way of doing things will be popular with an insular and neurotic America. Many are loving what he is up to right now.

Climate change is the real worry though

I understood British people were not subject to this policy after Boris got the position clarified. What's your friends status?

Well go play somewhere else if you do not like it? I think it is important that ill informed people from many thousands of miles away should not be able to run roughshod over local democracy, don't you think?
