Those stats are disingenuous. Murray was better than 1 in 3 in our first two seasons, bagging 25 in 73 with arguably worse service. He needed replacing after that but stayed on for Maupay's first season and got 1 in 23, dragging his stats down.

You could equally argue that had Welbs been fitter he would have scored more, and had Maupay been better he would have scored more

Back on track. 10 stalemates in 20 fixtures gives us an impressive 50% strike rate, and we're the first team into double figures this season...

10 - Albion (20)
9 - Palace (21), Southampton (20)
8 - Newcastle (19), Burnley (17)

Five more needed to break our own record of 14, and a further eight needed to break the all-time Premier League record.
Eight more draws would not only beat the record, but would almost certainly keep us up for a record fifth time.

If you bet on us to draw every game i wonder how up you'd be, especially if it was 1-1

Sent from my SM-G998B using Tapatalk

I use my BET365 free £5 bet on the Albion draw most weeks and it usually pays out around 2/1 so adding up quite nicely.

No free bet but last night I took the draw at 11/4 and had Webster anytime scorer at 20/1 so quite a profitable evening.

11 draws from 21 games.

Imperious.

I actually said last night "I'm loving a good draw!".

Seriously though, I know there has been negativity about not winning enough at home, but last two games, even the East Stand has been bouncing. I've had the same seats since the Amex opened, and last couple of games is the only time I can remember standing to watch exciting periods of play - Stat Brother will back me up on this, I definitely saw him, all be it reluctantly, standing for sections of play. It's unprecedented in the East Stand as our blankets fall off our legs and such...:lolol:

I was standing and shouting at others to be quiet as I was at an exciting part of my book.

We were all sat down when the team reverted back to pre boogate, December defending, with about 5 minutes to go.

Last night was fantastic. I'm front row in the WSU and I nearly went over the top when Webster powered home.

Just to be clear though: this isn't a thread with any implicit negativity. I'm no more moaning that we don't win enough than I am celebrating we don't lose very often.

What was amazing about that though, is on 80mins I think we all thought "oh no, a winner for them is inevitable here, panicked clearances, backs to the wall defending, them camped around our 18 yard box - we can't last 10 minutes of this!!"

but what transpired was a bit of a headshaker, a pinch your arm, pinch your mate's arm, hang about we're countering their searching for a winning....by searching for a winner! Talk about complete about face. How many teams outside the top 6 or so sides at home to Chelsea would settle for the point!? Not us. From about 85mins we got back on the front foot and took it too them - we did! Okay, it hit the back of Maupay's heal, or Trossard was a bit slow in making a decision, but still, we completely turned them around, last few minutes I thought only one side was going to win that game. That had nothing to do with how empty my glass was either!!

I know. But some use it as a stick still...

Premier League record of 17 draws in a 38-game season jointly held by Newcastle (2003–04), Aston Villa (2006–07, 2011-12) and Sunderland (2014–15). Can anyone snatch this most unwanted of records (if you ignore that shit Derby team, anyway)?

Thought I'd look these up:

2003/04
5th Newcastle W13 D17 L8 GD 12 PTS 56 (56 points got you 5th!)

2006/07
11th Villa W11 D17 L10 GD 2 PTS 50

2011/12
16th Villa W7 D17 L14 GD -16 PTS 38

2014/15
16th Sunderland W7 D17 L14 GD -22 PTS 38

So very contrasting seasons in the '17 draws club'. Struggles for Villa and Sunderland '12 and '15, scraping through lots of draws, GD tells it's own story.

Still have to play 3 of those other draw specialists.

That'll be us up to 15 without even breaking a sweat.

Imagine the groans if we’re tied 1-1 in our final game on 17 draws with the record in sight and we go and score a last minute winner to ruin it.
