Pmsl.....Gus is like a ex girlfriend, who always made you feel she was to good for you. Flirting and flashing her tits to anyone that paid an interest, all the time making you feel small, and not worthy. Then one day, she upped and left only to try crawling back a few weeks later, when she realized. That actually no one wants an old whore as their girlfriend, who they can't trust and in reality wasn't a very good shag in the first place, always just wanted to do it one way,,,,because that's the way she wanted it, otherwise she would get up and watch the tv.....But in the meantime you have seen the light and realized that she was just a bit of old mutton, dressed up as lamb and you thank you lucky stars, your shot of the old scrubber.

Except I married the bitch and have been paying for it ever since!!

More like the bird who got together with you when it looked like you had nice manners and carrer prospects, then walked off the job when someone with a nice suit and a big car pulled up. Later they find themselves being slapped around, and end up penniless after the bloke gets banged up for armed robbery. That's what happened to an ex of mine, anyway.

Not sure many women carry on like this though. A bit of security and a series of buns in the oven is a more common set of ambitions (vide Dario Gradi). That's all I ever wanted, and I'm not even a bird.

No, Gussie is just a bit of a flappy mouth, with insufficient cunning. We have seen it on the field (Mr 'no way back once we are losing') as well as off it.

And, like most folk else here, I have no idea what will happen, and can't make up my mind whether to wish him gone or wish he'd come back all contrite and raring to step into the ring for the club again.

I agree with you on this, not quite as strongly mind, best for all concerned if we move on now.
We will have quality candidates to choose from

That sums it up for me. We will not be short of candidates, but i'd rather it was sorted sooner rather than later in the summer. Need someone on board to get a handle on things well before the seaosn starts I think.

Gus has to go now. He has just gone too far. He will realise, in time, he has blown a VERY good job. Meanwhile, we will find someone very good AND, most importantly, who wants to be here. Success beckons for the right man.

Did her judgement of character improve over the years, I wonder.

Gus can bloody well sod off in my book.

He'll soon come to realise, if he hasn't already, how much free reign he was given here to do it his way and I very much doubt he'll find that much freedom again, the ungrateful tosser.

I'm off the Gus Bus and I don't care where he takes it next.

I think the psalm of the prodical son is apt here. The man does all wrong, and the perfect son who does nothing wrong cant understand when the other guy comes back that the father says i love you both the same, just rejoice he has come back to us. Thats what i would like to see happen.

Most of the Gus hate has come from rumours on here, or assumptions and guess work.

I've said all along I'd be happy to keep him, if all parties are happy they can work together

Well, she married for the fourth time recently, so one can only hope that over time it has been a bell shaped (or U shaped) curve. Lucky escape for me, though.

Not sure yet if Gus going will be a lucky escape for us. Setting aside all the Suarez nonsense, and despite the decent players he has recruited, and our commendable rise to 4th in the championship, the bottom line is we have choked too often, turning too many win situations into draws, and failing to come back when we are losing.

So in my view he has underperformed with what he has (and what he has been given), regardless of the hand he had in creating what we have. Don Revie was the same - with those players and that style of play (20 years ahead of its time) Leeds should have been the Inter Milan of the day, winning, winning and winning. But they were chokers.

The question is whether Gussie, still young, has the brains to learn how to win and win. That to me is linked to whether he has the brains to suck it up, apologise to club and fans, and Be Better. My guess is that his continued support of Swazza, and his latest spat suggest no, he is no more than a slightly less narcissistic and slightly less dictatorial version of Di Canio.

Anyway, I hope I'm proven wrong. I am a poor judge of character (see start of mini thread - Lol). If he does suck it up and recognise he has proven nothing yet, he may yet have the insight to succeed.

Not me,,i've disliked him for a long time. Mostly as a person more than a manager. But he is a one trick pony manager as well.

He's far from being a one trick pony - he's more than happy tout himself for several jobs at once, both in this country and abroad.

Well that's unfortunate for you. But his record speaks for itself

Correction: Most of the anti-Gus sentiment has actually come from Gus' outrageous public pronouncements.

Best metaphor I've heard in a long time ^^

I'm a little disturbed by all the people likening someone you pay to do a job, to a girlfriend. Makes me wonder about their relationships...

What's that??? Spent a fortune and failed playing negative football??? Exactly what is this fantastic record I keep hearing about???. He spent more money on one striker, than both teams put together spent on their players on the pitch at Wembley on Monday.

Equally, all the Gus junkies are making assumptions that other people are to blame for the predicament. In fact anyone other than Poyet himself.
