That old chestnut has come out again in todays Argus, Gus is saying were punching above our weight again in a push for the play offs

Kuszcak
Upson
Bridge
Bridcutt
Vicente
Lopez
Orlandi
Buckley
Ulloa

REALLY ?

Or are your tactics just not good enough GUS to get us in the play offs
And your making excusses at the right time if we do miss out on the play offs as not to dent your CV for the summer months when Leeds & probably a few other clubs come calling

When you look at what some of the teams around us have spent he has a point,Leicester for example .

Well if Gus stays ,if Bloom will help, and we keep our best players, remove some fringe players, and add maybe 3 quality players then, next season i would disagree with Gus.

Of course others have spent more but you don't hear other managers banging on about not being ready for the prem or our budget isn't as big as other teams they're just focused on winning and not making up excuses in case it all fails

Not really just pointing out that were all making such a fuss about finishing 6th and finishing 6th would be this so called remarkable achievement when 30 years ago finishing 6th would have meant bugger all

No finishing 6th 34 or 35 (not 30) years ago would have meant something, as it will today. By my reckoning, we have finished above 26th in the pyramid on five occasions in the club's history: 1978-79, 1979-80, 1980-81; 1981-82; 1982-83. Mullery was manager of the club for three of those seasons. No one who know's the club's history and especially who was there in the day doubts what a fine achievement that was. Funnily enough, the parallels are uncanny; ambitious rich chairman recruits untested manager who played in West and North London to take the Seagulls to the promised land. History repeating itself?

He really is an absolute TWUNT sometimes.

We've said all season our aim was for a top 6 finish, and now he's got in a £2m centre forward and an ex England centre half we're overachieving.

What a load of nonsense from a man clearly not capable of admitting when he's ballsed up.

Historic figures are not an indication of what they are now. It is clear that there has been a lot more money spent this year. They do not reflect the massive subsidy we get of Bridge from City.

The 'subsidy' off Man City is irrelevant.

Gus deserves credit for getting a £85k a week defender, for £15k, and getting him playing so well every game.

If we go down the road of looking at wages met by parent clubs, it would make any comparison impossible.

I would love to know all the budgets. I know for sure I trust what Gus knows and says against some of the negative rubbish spouted frequently on here.

Sometimes you would think we were the only club trying to get promoted, and if that is not the case, as if somehow it should be ours by right.

This Is gus's excuse just In case we don't make It.

Spot on 100%. If we make it, it's all because Gus is a genuis and if we don't then we are punching above our weight. Despite having an International Goalkeeper, with Champions league experience, same with the left back. International Centre Back, champions league playing right back. One of the top 5 players in the world at one stage. A million pound winger who is better then Zaha, the best defencive midfielder in the league, a striker we were going to build a team around at £3.25million and the next best thing since sliced bread and now worth £10million Ulloa.....and not to mention Ashley Barnes...oh and Lopez and Orlandi,,,,oh yeah and Norwich's championship player of the season and Saints Captain for last four or so years.....The highest av att in the Championship and season ticket sales that befit a prem side. Yeah we are punching well above our weight in 6th.....or is Gus just talking shite again,,,,ummmmm?????????

League positions follow the money. If you do not understand that you may as well try to persuade us the world is flat.

He may well have put the squad together for less than some of our rivals, which is impressive.

However man for man we have one of the best squads in this division, yes he has taken risks on players not use to the English game and credit there. However this squad is under achieving, it is a top 3 squad, yet we are scrambling around for 6th place, as we are far too inconsistent. He is the one that picks the team (tinkers) and sets out the tactics, so some of this has to come back on him.

Perfectly put!

Do you honestly think Bridge and Upson will make a permanent move to the Amex?

Why do you think Southampton sent their 'Captain of the last four years' out on loan just as they arrived at the top level?

Why did Norwich release Crofts?

If Buckley is better than Zaha, why hasn't Sir Alex offered us that many millions for Will?

How many smaller clubs have won the Premiership or Champions league in the last ten or so years?

The board's expectations were for a top six finish. There are a handful of games left and we are currently in 6th position. How on earth has Poyet 'ballsed up'?
