Brighton

Mathew Ryan – 6 – Perhaps lucky to see Kane’s goal ruled out as he rushed out at the wrong time. In contrast he was unfortunate with the equaliser, saving well before Kane converted the rebound.

Ezequiel Schelotto – 6 – Got Brighton up the pitch with his galloping runs down the right. Won his battle with Sessegnon. Struggled a bit more in tracking Moura but wasn’t exactly at fault.

Adam Webster – 6 – Opened the scoring with a cracking header, out-jumping Alderweireld in the process. Worth noting, though, that it was in his defensive zone that Kane started finding room in the second half.

Shane Duffy – 6 – Part of a back five that was disciplined for a good hour before tiring and leaving too many gaps. He remained pretty secure, though, and he made some crucial interceptions.

Dan Burn – 5 – Showed his versatility by switching to the left of a back four when Brighton were chasing the game, although Aurier started having more luck down the right after that happened.

Bernardo – 5 – A little erratic on the ball and struggled to get past Sissoko and Aurier down Brighton’s left flank. Substituted with the score at 2-1 as he wasn’t threatening enough going forward.

Dale Stephens – 5 – Could have been a bit more adventurous with his passing when Tottenham looked to be there for the taking on the counter. That said, he was no less accurate than any of the hosts’ midfielders.

Steven Alzate – 6 – Didn’t stop running until the end. Struggled to protect the defence as the game went on but his industry in midfield gave Brighton a foothold, and his attitude was summed up by a last-ditch block to prevent Spurs adding another in stoppage time.

Pascal Gross – 6 – Perfect delivery for the opening goal. Looked the most likely to score another for Brighton with a couple of long-range efforts but just couldn’t beat Gazzaniga.

Aaron Connolly – 4 – Did his best to get in behind Sanchez but just didn’t have the required strength. Missed a really good chance to make it 2-0 with a header that came off his shoulder.

Aaron Mooy – 7 – Continues to go under the radar as one of the best players outside the ‘big six’. Pressed high, showed excellent composure on the ball and gave Brighton some attacking drive.

Substitutes:

Neal Maupay (for Connolly 68) – 5 – Barely touched the ball as Spurs had gained more control by then.

Leandro Trossard (for Bernardo 76) – N/A – Not enough time to make an impact for the winger.

Yves Bissouma (for Schelotto 83) – N/A – Did his best to drive forward in a short cameo.

Largely agree with that, but a bit harsh on Aaron,no service.

Totally different best positions - Stephens the sitter, who can occasionally ventures forward when there’s cover, Mooy an ACM and creator.

Anti Stephens vendetta?

Hither (sometimes Thither)
Alzate has the amazing ability to twist and make space for himself. Such ease and class. Banging in a goal will change him, i think, and i hope that comes soon. Him and Mooy both 8 today. Along with the greyhound. How lovely to see him back, often just running in a straight line, but incessantly.
Most of the others a 6, although a 5 for Connolly, who needs to look to stay on his feet more. I just felt bothered by our centre backs looking to clear it in any direction for a while. That handed Kane a chance or 2, to our peril. Spurs were shit, and i feel a bit bothered that we couldn't overcome such a Mourinho team without ideas, or block Eriksen who when on the pitch was of course the only player with them.

Ryan 6 Coped well with lots of backpasses putting him under pressure.
Webster 7 Good goal and much better than Saturday.
Duffy 7 Good to see him back
Bernardo 6 Ditto . Will get better with game time
Burn 6 Did well.
Stephens 4 Gave the ball away too much and so many sideways passes.
Alzate 6 A real prospect and sooo versatile. Needs to practice shooting though.
Schelotto 7 Considering how long since he started a game, thought he did well.
Gross 4 Apart from free kicks and corners, was not very effective.
Mooy 8 We MUST sign him up. A class act and works so hard.
Connolly 5 Boy against men today. I think he needs Maupay playing in the same team.

Just got home, frustrating again, thought we deserved a point.....

Ryan 7
Webster 7
Duffy 7
Schelotto 7.5
Bernardo 7
Burn 7
Mooy 7 (8 first half, 6 second)
Alzate 7.5
Stephens 7
Connolly 6
Gross 7

No one stood out for me, no-one had a poor game either. Schelotto looks to have lost a lot of weight in the last few weeks and along with Bernardo did well after very little game time.

Ryan 6. He rarely saves ones he has no right to save. Maybe that’s a bit harsh on today’s goals
Schelotto 7. A point up for the rampaging run that led to the goal. He will never be a great defender but worked very hard.
Bernardo 6. Good to see him back. For his first league game in a while, he did ok
Duffy 7 I like him in the first team, preferably next to his bezzer Dunk.
Webster 7. A point up for a superbly timed header for the goal
Alzate. 6. He was average today by his standards
Burn 6. A good honest pro, would have preferred him to have been a little more cute in the sissoko incident
Stephens 6. Standard Stephens. Always looks good when things are going our way. Goes missing when we are under the cosh
Mooy. 8. If he had more pace he’d be a top player. An upgrade on all the others in that position
Gross. 6 Some fine delivery today but otherwise quiet
Connolly. 5. Some games he’s like the new Rooney, others like a pup who needs time on loan. Today, the latter. That shouldered header. Oh dear.

Ryan 6 - So reliable with the ball at his feet. Great forward thinking with the quick throws out. But perhaps could have done better for both goals.

Webster 7 - Powerful runs forward, good goal, but at least one mistake today that could have been more costly.

Duffy 7 - Solid but could have given away a silly penalty early on

Bernardo 7 - Fully of energy, looked sharp

Burn 6 - Mostly solid, useful going forward, but again a few errors to lose possession, including for their first goal.

Stephens 6 - Kept the ball moving as usual

Alzate 7 - Yet another good performance. Very tricky, but needs to do better with the final ball.

Schelotto 7 - Ran his socks off, great pace.

Gross 6 - Good setpieces today, especially for the goal.

Mooy 8 MOTM - Classiest player we have. Great first half. So cool on the ball.

Connolly 4 - Looks a bit lost. Often seen standing around. Outmuscled too frequently. Extremely poor for his "sitter".

Apart from Stephens 5 and Connolly 6 I agree, not convinced Ryan could have done much about the goals.
