Not far off actually.
It's that wanting to be at the arrivals bit that costs the money.
But if you are tight and she only has one wheelie suitcase and to save all the aggro of parking up and shuttle buses just so you can wave at her as she arrives, ask her to jump on the first train to Horley, park up at the station and wait there for her.
I used to park up in a street in Horley and get the train to Gatwick when going away for 2 weeks many years ago.

Get a couple of fake number plates, pull in just off the main roundabout, stick them on, drive through ANPR area and pick up/drop off, drive out and at KFC car park peel them back off - jobs a good un. Or so I've been told.
