Parking In Lewes

Apologies if there has been a thread for this already ......

Am i correct in assuming that the parking is free everywhere in Lewes after 6pm or do the permits stay in force 24 hours

Was considering getting the train tonight but was looking to save on the £5 train station parking cost ... I know i'm tight !!

Lord D may put me right but when I scouted round Lewes for this very purpose on Sunday it did look as though parking was free after 6. There aren't many street spaces by the Dripping Pan but the Friar's Walk carpark is a pleasant-enough stroll from the station.

Parking is free from 6pm.. not sure about the station though!
