[Help] Parcels from Hermes going astray..

My wife orders a lot of stuff that comes via Hermes and the girl who delivers it is pretty good.
I've found the worst are Amazon Logistics - had a parcel from Amazon delivered and a note put through the door on which was scrawled in green felt tip - "In brown bin at front". This is a recycling bin and the parcel had long gone as we wee on holiday at the time ! Not only that the parcel was small enough to put through the letter box. On other occasions parcels have been left at random houses in and around my street and on a couple of occasions I've been sitting at home waiting for something when I've had a notification on my phone that the parcel had been delivered through my letter box when it hadn't.
When Amazon used to use DPD they would, at least, give you a timed slot during which period they would deliver
