Its been an interesting year since we signed Jose Campana for both of our clubs. We have finished in 11th place in the Premiership, had our fans with their tinpot drum declared the best fans in the premiership by numerous pundits, surprised many with our football and continued to play attractive football under 'dinosaur' Tony Pullis and continue to show what a great club we are. You on the other hand have again blown up in the playoffs, again lost your manager, hired Sami Hyypia (who was sacked by Leverkusen) and sold the vast majority of the decent players in your team. Really want to go on about Jose Campana going to Sampdoria as a sign that he's too good for us?

Touched a nerve? :ffsparr:

...oh and sorry to sound like a stuck record but having the 'best fans' is easy when you are playing in the Premier League and have a small ground... a better test would be how many of your 'super fans' turn out at say, Wigan at home in the League Cup?

Perhaps but then we were getting a lot of plaudits for our fans in the championship as well so...

Still managed to rise like a Phoenix and stuff you to make it to the prem :lolol: and stay there easily while you go and blow another semi final:kiss:

Oh yeah Ulloa :lolol:

:lolol: Do phoenix' die when they **** over enough businesses, charities et al?

Sorry if I'm meant to be sad that we sold Ulloa but I for one am ecstatic that he was sold considering we got that fee..

Ulloa, turning 28 next month, worth the same amount as the Messiah himself was at 19. Who'd have thought it?

We haven't had a home tie in the League Cup or even the FA Cup for effin' ages so who knows? Quite frankly it's of very little interest to the vast majority of clubs in England.

Having the best fans in the league isn't solely about numbers, it's about getting behind your team regardless of the circumstances IMO.

Proverbial egg on my face for the Campana signing but we have a sell on clause so if he does fulfil his potential, we should at least make a few quid on the deal!

Any idea whether you made a loss/profit on the initial fee from Sampdoria? Doesn't seem to be any indication anywhere online.

Pretty sure we've sold him for 1.5 million so a small loss in fact. Unless you're willing to flood the side with more Spaniards or Spanish speaking players, he was always going to struggle with his personality it seems.

Thought he was a tidy player though and would have been excellent at Swansea for example but Holloway fell out with him and Pulis was never going to use him so it's a good deal all round now.

If we don't sign anyone soon though, I'll be very worried.

Strange. I didn't think £8m and £15m were the same thing. Especially since transfer fees all over the divisions have gone up massively due to the new TV money. There's no way you'd have mugged Leicester off quite as badly at the time we sold Wilf.

On the subject of Campaña, the kid is absolute class. His vision and passing are exceptional, he can strike a ball and he never looks under pressure. The trouble is, he had no desire whatsoever to learn English and he hated tackling/running. When he left Sevilla they said that the only thing holding him back is his attitude and sadly that proved to be the case. If he gets his act together and starts trying to improve, he could play for Spain.

I wouldn't say anyone we've been seriously linked with fits the bill that Stoke would have signed under Pulis but what's abundantly clear is that we're offering good money for players and our competitors are offering insane money for them!

We'll see, we've trimmed the fat which is great but it's been an incredibly dull summer so far signing wise, I'm sure you can relate to that but at least you'll only lose a few million this season rather than 15!

£15m doesn't sound very realistic now that he's bombed.

United paid £10m up front, with the fee potentially rising to £15m based on Zaha's appearances and success.
