So now we know there will be a train strike for the 17th September when we play that lot, what contingency plans have been made, if any, to ensure that the game will take place - or not? Anyone got inside information regarding what could be the biggest clusterf*** shitfest ever to hit Brighton?

Selfishly I hope it's moved to the Sunday as I'm not back from a trip away until the Saturday evening

There is also planned maintenance work that weekend.
It's a rail replacement bus service between Littlehampton and Brighton.

Can't see them moving it at such short notice unless it goes to later in the season/mid week. Suspect police plan this fixtures many months in advance so will be tricky for them. Probably depends whether the normal train that takes the black hoodie mob off via Lewes to London is still going to run. If not they may consider. But I guess they could replace with a coach bubble like Pompey v Saints?

ps) I also hope they don't move it as I am away Sunday-Tuesday having thought this was nailed down for saturday at 3pm.

Probably a good thing. At least they already have the buses lined up anyway!

They could kettle them all at Croydon a few days before, and march them all down to the Amex and back.

Oh, but now I'm envisaging some sort of western-style cattle drive with the heels of the stragglers being nipped by fierce dogs, and so on...

Strictly speaking, if there are no trains running there will be no passengers to board the buses from outside the Littlehampton - Brighton area. Presumably stations will be shut as the strike (RMT Union) affects all rail staff not just the drivers. Would the strike affect the proposed maintenance work? It’s all a dog’s dinner so I think I’ll hire a microlight and land on the playing field next to the Amex. :drink:

In previous fixtures Palace fans were escorted down to a cleared Falmer station, herded onto their own eight carriage choo-choo and sent back from whence they came. With no trains running - what then? It will be a total dickheads day out unless the authorities have come up with a plan to segregate both sets of fans to ensure that all leave relatively peacefully.

I don't think you can move it?

All kinds of events have taken place, shows, concerts, festivals, during this industrial action, as much as its our 'biggest game' what makes the Albion any different?

Could they make the final stop of the 700 Coastliner the Amex for that day and just put loads of extra busses on to help?
