Over ten years since we "sold" the Goldstone

Nine-year quest to secure new stadium
by Matthew James

When The Argus revealed Brighton and Hove Albion were selling the Goldstone Ground, few readers expected the saga to be making headlines nine years later.

At the time this newspaper exposed the club's plans to groundshare at Portsmouth, John Major was prime minister and one of Albion's current first-team squad was only eight.

The sensational scoop sent shockwaves throughout Sussex on July 7, 1995. Three Argus editors and ten Albion managers later, the issue of a home for the club is still high on the local agenda.

It always makes me laugh/cry whenever people go an about the Wembley fiasco.

For a stadium that is not used regularly, just a few times a year, and with a new capacity of 80,000:

Last match Oct 2000, first match back probably May 2006.

Brighton, for a league team needing ground minimum 23 times a season, 'new capacity' 20,000:

Last match 1997, first match Falmer? but not before 2007.

It's just shameful.

For once, I nearly agree with you 86.

It's "there are three people", not "there is three people".

Shut the f*** up!!!!! there is three people to blame and that is Bellotti, Archer and Stanley, Ernest you are a complete and utter wanker.

That much we all know.

I think you will find he is on a wind up, and you fell for it. Either that, or Worzel Gummidge really has had the diarhoetic blowback he has been promising himself, f***ing his mind and frying his tiny cock into the unspeakble depths of stupidity he teeters on the edge of every full moon.

But with Ernest, you never can tell.

I think everyone is trying to think about the future, but everytime we step into Withdean or go past that facking retail park, we get reminded of the past.

8 years is more than enough!!!!
