Well I thought it was, and got these points from it:
Standing sections were communicated in the STH stadium tours, and the rest of the stadium is all-seater. That's the FA direction and based on the Hillsborough enquiry
Stewards are just doing their job (badly in my opinion, but someone tells them what to do)
If you assault someone on CCTV, then you are an idiot as you are going to get caught

To be fair I also got your point from "f*** off"

There is no FA direction about having the back four rows as standing, that is nonsense. And the Taylor report did not blame the Hillsborough disaster on standing either.

As for my 'f*** off' point, that was made at midnight in the train home after football and a few beers. I won't be able to put it across nearly so succinctly this morning.

What gets me about the situation as I heard it was the ejecting steward giving his word several times that the fella (First half) wouldnt be ejected, and thats why he went voluntarily.

Wheres the integrity of the Steward?
Just about sums Stewards up I suppose

Then having a young female steward addressing the fella - who mustav been in his forties as "Oi you" Takes the biscuit, telling him to sit down when theres 6 rows in front of him standing..................HHHMMMMM!

I mean respect is 2 way isnt it?

If i were the fella would consider legal action for slander/ maybe libel if its in writing

Brno Czech Republic
Unfortunately i have only managed to get to 5 Brighton games this season because of work , so i have seen 8 Brno games in the Czech republic in the top league , the crowds are quite low normally 3000 home game and 8000 for an away game on average , i enjoy nothing better than going to a Brighton game but the atmosphere at these Czech games is quite outstanding , they are allowed to stand , stand on seats , drink alcohol during games , ignite flares (even in packed areas) , the standing makes people sing more and they sing all through the game , the police are there but just stand and watch , same with the Stewards and just let everybody enjoy themselves . There has never been a fight that i have seen and never anyone arrested . If it's like this in Czech you imagine what it's like in Germany with their crowds and i know some of you have been to these German games . With everything said don't you think in England the authorities are just getting over the top , so much health and safety bollocks , power crazy stewards , do they relaly want the crowds to diminish as football is getting more like a tennis match every game . Why can't we enjoy ourselves why can't we sing 'if you hate Palace stand up' , why cant we stand up for a moment and lap up some great run and shot , why cant we say or sing what we want . Football is killing itself not just with the H&S aspect but also the overpaid , up their own arses , players attitudes , especially in the premiership . I wish the authorities would look at German football and see how the game is flourishing and the fans standing and enjoying themselves , and drinking etc . I can see it in 5-10 years time it will be more lively to have a season ticket at the Cruciable . I am 50 and in 1901 but i still like to have banter with away fans , have a sing and a few beers and stand when Brighton have a good chance . It's great to have a new stadium but lets not ruin the atmosphere .

This. One of the other north stand stewards actually agreed and asked if we could all write to the club to express our outrage and what he agrees is petty enforcement that makes situation worse. Of course he'll be sacked for such common sense!

This was my observation too. The gobby stewardess was totally disrespectful and should never have spoken to the gentleman like this. Let ever one be assured this was no NSK kid but a perfectly civilised and normal bloke who's probably been following the Albion at least 30 years and was just randomly targeted because he was near the aisle.

Slightly OT but I have been told by a couple of people that the trouble in the Bolton end on Saturday was started by a steward. I wonder if the clubs super high tech CCTV will show and identify that, if what I was told is true.

If you can't follow rules that apply to everyone in the stadium maybe you shouldn't be there. Don't ruin it for everyone else.

This would be a good point if there was any justification for the stewards actions. But there isn't so it belongs to another thread e.g. The state the bleeding obvious one.

Brighton - In your face
Right I will tell everyone on here now what has happened tonight as I am friends with most of the stewards at the ground. The club has been warned by the f.a. Not once but twice about persitant standing so the stewards have now been told to clamp down on it in every row apart from the back 3 rows which is what everyone knew when we first moved into the stadium. Now they are not going to throw people out for standing up now and again when something exciting happens in the game but if people constantly stand up all the time then they will be warned once or twice then if they carry on they will be either taken downstairs and given a severe warning by a club official or will be escorted from the ground for that game then if they do it again in following games then they will be banned for an amount of time. The first guy ejected tonight verbally abused a female steward and has also been warned in the past about persistent standing and the second guy was also ejected for persistent standing and yes I love the hate palace stand up song as much as the next Bha fan but it seems like now it only gets sung just to wind up the stewards not to bring us all together in unity against palace. We all know what the f.a. Are like they like making examples of clubs or people so lets not let it be the Albion who get a fine or worse any points deducted or something for us as fans not sitting down when we should be. And yes I am good friends with the larger steward you guys are going on about and I can assure you he is not billy big bollocks or up himself he is actually a big Albion fan but he gets paid to do a job so he has to do it, he does not want to throw anyone out of the ground and stop them supporting the Albion but he has to do his job. Anyway that enough from me just lets everybody think about all of this before we start going off about the stewards. Cheers guys, up the Albion.

Not just ejected, but a lengthy ban too:eek:

Ok so I've go time to actually write about this now. I sit near the aisle of N1A so had a pretty good view of both incidents. The first one happened because two woman stewards picked on a bloke for no apparent reason, when there were about 5 rows of people standing in front of him. Everyone else in his row was standing, everyone else in the rows behind and in front were standing but they only seemed to enter into conversation with him. I couldn't hear what was said, but from the gestures everyone was giving it was clear that they only wanted him to sit down. At the time we guessed that he'd told them to do one and they didn't like it, because the heavy mob returned and kicked him out.

In the incident near the end, a group of stewards walked to the back of N1A while the christmas pudding walked up to a bloke about 5 seats in. Again I couldn't hear the conversation but it looked pretty animated and the christmas pudding was getting right in the supporters' face, this caused the fan to push him away and at that point the heavy mob ran down the stairs to help and christmas pudding got pushed over the row of seats in front. That was the first time they'd spoken to him, no warnings just pick on him amongst a group of hundreds who are standing, get in his face to provoke a reaction and then chuck him out.

My point about this bloke is that he's behaving aggressively towards fans in the first instance and then people wonder why it provokes an aggressive reaction. There is no hiding behind the rulebook in this situation, it is possible to enfore rules in a friendley manner, this bloke is doing the opposite and it's causing problems.

Christmas pudding = big time power trip

I sit near both instances - my take on the entire situation is both fans were asked by stewards to come with them to have a chat - both fans flat out refused to do so peacefully making their situations far worse. The second instance with the curly haired man was ridiculous. Not only did he refuse to go with the steward he then starting kicking off, when they tried to force him to leave.

All I can say is that if you have done nothing wrong why not do as your asked by a steward sort it out then return to watch the match. How stupid can you be to refuse to have a word and have to be forcibly removed and be banned from coming again? Grown men acting like children.

I'd get very hacked off if I was asked to miss part of the match when I'd done nothing wrong....

As well as being a 'friend of the stewards' you also seem to be about as ignorant as half of them. Sooo many times 'friends' or the stewards (or supposedly stewards themselves) come on here and post the repeated crap about FA action being taken because of persistent standing, yet EVERY game you see on TV - prem or championship - there are ALWAYS whole stands on their feet for the whole game behind the goal. Anfield, Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge, the list goes on. If the FA are really going to take action (1) they would have done and (2) we would know about it. If they have provide proper proof and I'll retract my rant, but as this same question has been asked many times before on this board I won't be holding my breath.

My seats in a part of the lower west where I have a grandstand view of the antics at the west end of the north and last night it provided a welcome distraction as the game fizzled out. However even from my vantage point it's obvious that if the club has a 'standing problem' then its mainly with the away, not the home, support.

Bloody stewards. North Stand should be a safe standing part of the stadium. Atmosphere will increase. People will enjoy it. Game is far more enjoyable and, most importantly, stewards can do f*** all if we stand and shout.

Don't they know that we STAND OR FALL

So now you can be ejected for singing the original verses of Sussex By The Sea ?

If this was the case there would be mass ejections from all the Premier League and Championship matches.

And a steward got attacked at half time in north stand, and there was a fight between a steward and a fan near the end in the stand with the fat steward with no neck getting hit

Incorrect and incorrect

No time to read 7 pages but am I correct in saying someone was thrown out for singing "stand up if you hate palace"??? Were there prior circumstances or provocations?

Yes and no

Well some people are confused about the standing, some say back 3 rows, some back 4,back 7 and back 8... then another says 15 rows were standing.....who is right...it does need clarification...that said though is it too much to ask people to be civilised...standing on seats, being berlligerent....seems from the postings on here that someone was asked to sit down and came back with a mouthful...it seems as if he was'nt deliberately singled out....if you have a mass of people standing and you are told to get them seated you have to start somewhere...or is the first one spoken too being picked on. Fans do wrong, get admonished then they cry Foul,I'm being picked on.
I'm all for fun at football but keep it in place.
And that 'Stand up if you hate Palace' song is so dated,a lot of good funny chants do come from the North Stand though.

If that fan who was ejected yesterday for starting the 'Stand up if you hate Palace' song actually did that, and if that's all he did, then I think the stewards were being OTT.

It was the stewards view he started the chant - he didn't - he was just singing it - so he was in effect ejected not for starting the chant but for singing it
