If we bought Nooney for £300k and there is a sell on clause it could come in handy for Plymouth Argyle who might be in line for £300k.

Who's to say the money from noone will be available for gus to buy a new player.

TB is a businessman after all.
TB is not running this club to make a profit. If that's his goal, he has made a very bad investment of over £100m for little return. He's also not running it as a charity and blowing cash on players. He's made an interest free loan and wants the club to be self-sufficient. The books need to balance, so money in means money to spend.

If there was winger Top Trumps, the categories would have to be:

Trickery
Pace
Crossing
Shot

I think Lua Lua would beat him in three out of four
Which one do you give to Noone?

This. Best response on the whole thread. You speak a lot of Severnside Gull.
We've got to look at the bigger picture sometimes, even though Nooney is loved by the club, players and the fans, we should cash in and make some money on players we brought for only £300,000. Nooney is far too inconsistent and struggles with his final end product.

Agree with you and Severnside, although not convinced we'll get a high fee. Hope so, but unconvinced.

Yep.

Whatever people may think, we're still not in the same league (plus there are some clubs way over stretching.)

I don't see Noone fetching over a million once the final figures are out. My feel is still for just under this.

We are not one of the big boys yet.

Nooney will have cost £1.5mil plus a couple of add-ons. He's a first choice championship midfielder in good form. Cardiff have been chasing him for ages. Good business all around-let's get that money spent on better.
Will miss you Nooney. Good luck and all the best.

I thought they were skint?

They are. The're something like £60 million in dept and still owe the former owners £20 million which has to be paid soon and they've given the manger £15 million to spend this season. They are taking a gamble on reaching the prem this season at all costs.

Bloom is an astute businessman, he certainly hasnt invested to make a loss. The £100m he spent on the stadium is a capital asset he could one day sell if he chose to. It's not just an outright expense.

We'd better make sure they pay us in hard cash.

Will be sorry to see Nooney go but if the funds give us leeway to get in the striker Gus wants, then it's a good deal.

I've always enjoyed watching Nooney because of his trickery, quick feet and pace - he's an edge of the seat player (except in the north stand of course, because we don't do sitting) - but all too often it's been that final skied shot, misplaced cross or moment he loses the ball that makes him such a 'nearly' winger. Potentially, he's brilliant but rarely actually delivers.

But thanks for the memories, wack, and good luck in the Principality. Still suspect he'll see more of the bench than he does of the pitch.

Nooney has given his all for the club and should get an ovation on his return. However he is not good enough at this level as Cardiff will find out. He goes past people like they don't exist but the priority is crossing, passing and shooting and he is dreadful in these areas. Also his away performances are always poor. Gus was worried about Painter last year and saw Noone as better cover than Kaz. Now we have full backs to die for it is all about delivery from our wide men. As for Buckley it isn't just the number of goals they were match winners, he is a big game player and in a different class to the other two. Gus and Tanno realise that despite hours of training ground drills GrNooney hasn't got the ability to deliver crosses and shots under pressure. Great business by GUS !!! why are no other clubs interested?
Disappointed that we didn't go for Lansbury but sure that gus has the 'GEM' ready for us.

This is like all of BHAFC's birthdays have come at once. Noone is a mediocre player not up to the job for where we're going in the next couple of years. I've been saying that since this time last season, when everybody else was praising him no end. Now everybody (apart from Cardiff) has realised what the visionaries amongst us spotted a long time ago. The truth is he's a man of modest talent who catches the eye simply because he has quick feet. In terms of productivity, he's a bit of a no hoper to be brutally honest. If this means we get to see more of Kazenga and Buckley (two of our best four players in my opinion), maybe sign another winger AND bank £1.5m then we have had an absolute RESULT.

I think both he and Kaz are devastating in league 1. but the championship can prove a bit tough for both...
