I'm really surprised that Gary McAllister hasn't been linked. Played at Liverpool while Sami was there, has experience of both managing (Leeds) and being an assistant manager as was the no.2 at Aston Villa while Houllier was in charge, so is maybe the experienced head that is needed? Is also currently unemployed.
