Fairly sure that the Saturday 3pm rule has only got a temporary lifting for TV games. All the time games are behind closed doors then this is fine as it is only really the players, officials and staff who are affected.

However, if they try to switch more games to TV once we are back to something resembling normal, then this could dilute the product and therefore reduce income for clubs.

Likewise, there have been loads of comments about the games not being the same without fans. If you have loads of times which make travel more difficult - not just for away fans but also home fans who live further away or who have work commitments - then you will end up with half empty stadiums as they will settle for watching on the TV.

Kick off times and drinks breaks don’t really matter all the while the games are behind closed doors. It all becomes a lot more controversial once they let fans in.

No, probably not. I suppose we all have our limits on how much we are prepared to be messed around before we do something else for live entertainment and just watch football on tv.

FIXTURES LIST
Got a spare hour or two? Try sorting out the remaining fixtures. Between Tues 14th July and Sun 26th July 30 games have to be played. Add to that the FA Cup on the 18th & 19th plus Man Utd play on Mon 13th. Oh, and no games on the 24th or 25th July.
With the cup my guess is Arsenal v City on 18th. Arsenal play on the 12th so will play again on the 15th.
Man Utd v Chelsea on 19th. As Utd play on the 13th their game v Palace has to be on the 16th thus their FA Cup game will be on the Sunday.
There's a full schedule on Wed 15th to be spread over four days (14th - 18th). As Southampton play on the 13th Brightons game will be on the 16th.
The full schedule on Saturday 18th will be split over six days, there are no scheduled matches on 22nd but the four cup teams have games to fit in. However you look at it, Man Utd have five games in 14 days.

Saints v Albion 6pm 16th July
Albion v Newcastle either 19th or 20th July
Burnley v Albion 3pm 26th July

There is however on the flip side to this a MASSIVE opportunity for supporters to have their voices heard like never before. We've seen how soulless and joyless playing behind closed doors is and how important the supporters are to the experience and to the package the PL sells domestically and around the world. If the shafting of fans and more ludiscrous kick off times continues supporters can collectively protest and vote with their feet, empty stadiums after fans are allowed back would not be a good look and will dimiish the product. It will never happen though because it requires a collective effort across all PL clubs and supporters to put their allegienaces aside for the common good and because there is too much self interest in everyones own club only and selfish attitudes sadly many of this probably will become the norm.

It's nothing to do with supporters if it is financially good for the TV companies it will happen, including the Lucozade break ( or whichever co sponsors it) More money spent in the bars at 1/4 time, done deal

It's those 'Big 6' clubs playing each other that is the only league and, unfortunately, some of them have to play practice matches against 'little' teams just to fill the schedule.

Have they?? Has anyone genuinely said the crowd noises are as good as actual fans at the game?? It's football and after a break I'm glad it's back but it's not a patch on the real product and all at the PL and TV broadcasters know it.

im ont convinced the TV companies want to broadcast every game every weekend. it suits them to have fixtures drawn out over the weekend, but after about 6-7 slots there's probably saturation.
