I am having trouble connecting my laptop to the internet. When I connect to the wireless network, it says connected - access local only.

There is another unsecured wireless network nearby and when i connect to it it works fine.

how can i fix my network so it works properly? on the network and sharing centre in control panel i get a diagram that has my laptop, then a line to the network, then a line with a big red cross on it between the network and the internet

any tips on how to fix it

plug the modem into the phone socket

reboot the router (then consider static IP addressing)

Have you tried switching it off and back on again?

You don't have internet, checked to see if your ISP is having troubles? Is a cable unplugged from your router? has someone just drilled through your phoneline?
