Brighton's latest injury doubt is top-scorer Joao Pedro, who has an ankle issue.

Tariq Lamptey could return but Adam Lallana, James Milner and Jan Paul van Hecke will likely remain out.

MATCH FACTS

Head-to-head

  • Newcastle have won their last two Premier League home games against Brighton, having failed to score in the first four meetings at St James' Park (D2, L2).
  • However, the Seagulls could complete a league double over Newcastle for a third time.
Newcastle
  • Newcastle are looking to win three consecutive league matches for just the second time this season.
  • The Magpies could score in every one of their home league fixtures in a top-flight campaign for the first time since 1958-59.
  • Their tally of 78 top-flight goals in 2023-24 is a club record in a 38-game season.
  • Eddie Howe’s side are one short of equalling the Premier League record of 15 goals scored by substitutes.
  • Howe has won all five of his home matches against Brighton in the Premier League.
  • Anthony Gordon is just the third Newcastle player to register 10 goals and 10 assists in a Premier League campaign, emulating Andy Cole and Ruel Fox.
  • Gordon has nine goals and seven assists across his 17 home league games this season.
  • Alexander Isak is one short of 50 Premier League appearances for Newcastle, scoring 30 goals to date. Only Andy Cole and Les Ferdinand have reached the 30-goal mark in fewer games.
  • Isak is aiming to score in an eighth successive home league game.
Albion
  • Brighton’s 1-0 victory against Aston Villa ended a run of six league games without a win (D2, L4).
  • The Seagulls are aiming to win consecutive league matches for the first time since a run of three in September.
  • They have won just two of their past 16 away league outings (D5, L9).
  • Roberto De Zerbi’s side have failed to score in eight Premier League fixtures in 2024, two more than any other team.
  • Albion's tally of 57 goals conceded is just three short of their worst defensive record in a Premier League campaign.
  • Evan Ferguson scored a hat-trick in the reverse fixture in September; he has managed just two goals in his subsequent 23 appearances in the division.

Looking forward to a comfortable passage through to the next round, in front of an adoring Goldstone sell-out.

6-0 to the boys in the stripes, Mitoma hattrick, Murray with 2 and a Titus Bramble own goal.

I can see us staying up with that kind of result

Solly March definitely not back for the start of pre-season is a real hammer-blow for next season.

Can't see us getting anything out of today.

Was that revealed in the press conference?

Beyond dissapointing. Hopefully it won't be too far into next season. Will take quite a while for him to get back up to speed.

Yes

Asked who would be back for pre-season.

Immediately responded "Solly no."
Didn't even have to think about it.

After @Psychobilly freakout comment yesterday, this does not sound good.
Damn.

Probably the wrong thread for this, but given Solly’s age and the fact there’s no guarantees he’ll come back the player he was, signing a left footed winger needs to be on the recruitment list this summer. Still slightly annoying we weren’t able to in January.
