I think when kits first came out in the 19th century, many teams had that V design or a sash. It seems to have almost completely disappeared in football kits today.

Puma have provided AFL teams with stripes better looking than a English Premier League team with Nike....probably at a fraction of the cost.
I think we need to get in touch with North Melbourne Kangaroos and get some spare kit off them - the no sleeve look, & 80's style shorts, would be perfect for the start and end of the season in warmer weather

If you look on historicalkits.co.uk it’s easy to find early examples - Accrington, Birmingham, Bradford, Brentford …… got bored of looking after that!

Well quite, I would be surprised if Puma kit, (or Adidas for that matter), is appreciably cheaper than that manufactured by Nike.
I’ve been a big fan of Porto’s kits for many years, understated excellence with a continental feel, not unlike @Herr Tubthumper
