What a complete and utter waste of money.

Wonder how long the Greens keep up with the failed expense experiment?

If it had been planned with local consultation, cyclists, as well as traffic consultants and Nimbys it could have been a permanent success.

Hopefully Horsham one will be binned soon, only seen a cyclist in it twice (and one was nearly cut up due to bad signage / no thought on H&S) whilst sat in permanent traffic jam that didn’t exist before

I suppose due to lack of an alternative?

there's a middle route through Shoreham, all the kids use it to get to School in Southwick. None of them are stupid enough to use the A27 or A259 . . . . thre middle road is flat as well.

basically the whole scheme was dreamt up by a ****tarded civil servant who probably can't even ride a bike.

A new consultation has opened today. It takes a while to get to the section for the A259 cycle lane but you can also have your say on the Old Shoreham Road cycle lane too. Whether the council will listen to those most impacted is another matter...

If you are for these cycle lanes then it is vital you complete the survey.

Very clever :)
However, if you are for the cycle lanes then realistically you need not worry about completing the survey as we all know where the council already stands on the matter.

I could fix it all with the wave of a pen. No joe public cars anywhere on the seafront between Embassy Court and the Pier for a start. Then bulldoze Kingswest and pedestrianise Queens Road. Cycle path here, cycle path there, lick o paint lick o paint, Boom, you're welcome.

Transport officials have cut funding to three Conservative-controlled councils for failing to encourage walking and cycling amid a local Tory backlash against government-backed plans to reduce traffic and pollution...

...West Sussex county council was refused more active travel funding after it ripped out a popular cycle lane in Shoreham-by-Sea, which linked five schools and had been used for 30,000 cycle trips, within weeks of its installation in 2020.

That can't be right. There are posts all through this thread saying no one used it.

And I say that as someone who did cycle along it quite often during lockdown. Oh.

The cycle lane through Shoreham in 2020 was ill conceived and has ****ed the whole idea IMO. sad but true.

They really need to get the Shoreham to Hove bit sorted along the seafront, and make some improvements in Lancing as well. you should be able to cycle/walk pier to pier Worthing to Brighton without going on the road.
