Alan Navarro has signed a new one-year contract with Albion.

The midfielder was not offered terms at the end of last season but invited back to pre-season training.

He has now impressed Gus Poyet sufficiently to earn a new deal, which has been signed ahead of tomorrow's Championship opener with Doncaster.

Navarro missed much of last season through injury.

he was unlucky with the injury last year. he was a cracking player in gus's first season and played a good role in steering us to safety that year, good on him for earning a new contract, hopefully he can work his way into the first team or add pressure to the starting 11. always liked him.:albion2:

Great! I thought he had put on a bit of weight after the injury and I expect he would have lost in by now.

Very decent back up yes. Bridcutt would take some shifting though and think Dicker is well ahead to play alongside. This could allow JFC a season to play somewhere else on loan and then have Nav's spot on the bench if deserving?

Don't think it was ever really in doubt once he proved he was fit - chuffed and think he will push Bridcutt to keep performing
