Sin Bin is a new one, Junior spent 20 minutes there while playing a game in Nebraska for swearing which is not allowed in soccer.

Using the team noun as a singular: "Brighton IS expected to do well this year" rather than "Brighton ARE expected to do well this year" (To carry on an argument from the 'Grammar Slam' thread!)
But the club IS a singular and, therefore it is the correct grammar.
Brighton is, Brighton players are.
