Al Ittihad remain keen on trying to bring Liverpool's Mohamed Salah to the Saudi Pro League before their transfer window closes in September, sources have confirmed to 90min.

Salah is understood to be keen on moving to Saudi Arabia, but the main hurdle for any deal is whether Liverpool will agree to let him leave, without having the chance of signing a direct replacement.

90min understands that Al Ittihad are willing to offer Liverpool a deal worth in excess of £120m which would be a club record.

Should Salah move, he would also be in line to become the highest paid player in world football, surpassing even the salary of Al Nassr's Cristiano Ronaldo.

I think he will. Of course, whether or not he should is a wholly different question.

With Salah's nationality, a move to the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) area would make a lot of sense in many ways. Like Neymar, Salah is 31 years old and would undoubtedly be a marquee signing.

But at that age, it's highly likely that Liverpool wouldn't get as good an offer for him in the future as the league matures and clubs develop their own young players. And every player has their price.

It's a chance to cash in on a player who won't be adding to his value in the future regardless of on-field performance.

Cant see Liverpool letting him go without getting a replacement in with less than 30 hrs of the transfer window open thats going to be a tough ask unless they have been working on it upto now. Without Salah, Liverpool will lose 50% of their firepower.

Liverpool should sell. Salah is a very good player, but he's already on the slide. Cash in now, they still have very good strike options with Diaz and Jota returning to fitness and Nunez starting to settle in.

A lot of money being offered for a 31 year old who isn't going to get much better as a player. Klopp has laughed it off and said Not for Sale but, he does not run the club and back in the US they will be looking at the implications of accepting that offer. A marquee signing for the Saudi league if they can pull it off, probably the worlds best Muslim player " coming home " .... I think it's 70/30 he will go.

Salah is one of those iconic Premier League players of the last 5 / 6 years. If he goes then the Prem loses one of their jewels, while Liverpool fold on this season's title race.

I think missing out on Caicedo is massive for that club. That said, I don't think he'll leave now simply because it's so late in the day.

I can see why he'd want to go.

He's won all there is to win at Liverpool, and it's been quite apparent for two seasons now that the players who finally won the long awaited title have lost a bit of motivation since then. They played at their absolute maximum for two, three years, barely daring to lose a game, and that must take its toll. Then when they finally win the thing, it's a massive let down because of COVID, and there are no big celebrations. They're not going to be title contenders this season. Being Arabic speakers and Muslim, he and his wife will find Saudi will be far less of a culture shock than it will be for some players heading out there. He's in his 30s now and never going to get a contract offer like the Saudis are going to pay him again, nor are his goalscoring feats going to improve in the Premier League at this point. And he'll probably be the most popular player out there, even with Ronaldo and friends on show, simply because he's a hero in a lot of the Middle East, not just in Egypt.

I'm sure Liverpool would actually love the £120m for him because his value is only going down from now and their financial restrictions are well documented (or at least they were until the biffed the Caicedo signing). The issue for them is whether they can replace Sarah adequately with only a day left to fix the situation.
