My worry is how far the centres are from the Stadium and the walk involved there and back. Going to contact the bus company to see if there are buses that serve the need.

If you're early enough you can park free all day in the Cineworld car park, that's a bit closer to the ground as well. If you're too late for that the Cleveland shopping center would probable be best. That would be better for your wife as it's directly above the shops

Not really. The "nob heads" drink in a different area. You will be safe amongst civil boro fans in the baker street area.
