Trying to buy something from your local shops on a Wednesday after 12 noon.
Impossible, why? because they had closed.

In the words of Peter Kay - "What was that about" it's hard to believe that happened.

My local sweetshop Riddles in Hallyburton Road was always 'seemingly' closed and there always seemed to be this elderly couple who dished out the lollipops or weighed out the pear drops etc.

Being given 50p after school on a Friday and sneaking 60p's worth of penny sweets.

I remember being sent to the shop to buy a loaf of bread or some other item and being told to make sure I had the right change as it was a half-crown, not a 2 bob!!

Anyone else have a mobile shop that used to come round?

Playing all summer holiday long in the Woodvale Cemetery. Tuf/Commando shoes. Roller skate with book as a seat. My uncle had a Mk1 Ford Cortina which seemed enormous...........see one now it is tiny compared to modern cars. Oh, and white dog sxxt, and all colours of dog sxxt as no one picked it up back then!

The roller skate with a book is a great memory. I can recall using my sisters' annuals and launching myself from the garages in Florence Avenue down to Hallyburton Road but negotiating the corner,.

Visiting the the Royal Suspension Chain Pier in Brighton was always a childhood treat.

I'll never forget the day it opened.

Pretending to be Evil Knievel, jumping ditches with my mates racer bike, didn't end well.

BBQ's on the beach at Glyne Gap, during the hot summer's in late 70's.

Playing the crossed wires game when babysitting, the occupants had two phones, so calling unsuspecting people pretending they were involved in someone else's call.

Best of all, travelling to the Goldstone on the train to Hove from Bexhill, taking in all the pre match histrionics
