Until ridiculous and pointless bollocks like this are replaced with reality we’ll never progress. Anyone who can’t see Lallana is on a different footballing planet to the slow, negative, myth that is Gross is a part of the problem.

Gross was woeful tonight and damaging, it’s not the first time this season. Of all our established players it’s Gross who has to be upgraded if we are going to move on. He’s been fantastic and deserves a place in our history but is becoming a liability.

Gross didn't have a great game but Lallana's goals and assists for us is below par. He looks great, he sounds great, his CV is great but absolutely no decisive moments in any of the games against the bottom 3 for starters. No evidence of his famed ability to unlock a defence. I expect more from the club's top earner.

Still has an assists total the overrated Lallana can only dream of.
And? My point was that he was utter shite tonight and he was....

Lallana had a much better game than him tonight.

This is player ratings for tonight's game, not the whole season's rating.

Thought he was ordinary tonight, but generally has performed well this season.

For what he cost us he has been a fantastic bargain, as has Veltman. Bissouma lived up to his fee tonight, but very few of the others did.

You are out of your tiny mind. Gross consistently delivers good chances for our strikers to score occasionally and miss usually. Lallana is quality on the ball and has vision but has not yet delivered goals or assists to justify the cost.

Sanchez 6 - not a lot too fault but.
Veltman 6.5 Ok
Dunk 6 Ok
Webster 4 Poor by his standards from start of season
Moder 6 ok should not have been subbed
Gross 3 too slow and too many back passes needed to go off 50-55 mins
Bissouma 7 MOTM a class above the rest of the team
Lallana 5 he is not delivering the finishes i would expect -
Trossard 3 poor , did nothing and should have been subbed at 50-55 mins if not before
Welbeck 5 - chasing shadows
Maupay 3 - really a poor game, did not have his normal work rate to make up for poor finishing

Ali J 6 - really nearly turned the game
Izquierdo 6 - one bright point of the game
Connolly 3 - was very supportive of him in past but he really made zero impact BUT very unclear as to what position he was asked to play

This.

Zero for the entire lot.

They should have been at Sheffield Utd from minute 1 and put in a professional performance with the prize of seeing off relegation this season.

But no, it was beyond them to even care.

Exactly.

He clearly isn’t a wing-back, winger/wide player either, but has done a job all season. The fact people are missing this says it all really.

Too many players just not on it last night.

Whilst Maupay seems to be taking the brunt of the abuse for me Lallana and Welbeck need to have a look at themselves because they are either not good enough or just coasting.

Lallana clearly has ability but he continues to miss a good goal scoring chance every game. Welbeck seems to be invisible for most games and rarely adds anything apart from a missed chance or a misplaced pass. For players on obvious high wages and years of experience at this level I expect far more from them .... we have brought them in to add experience and drag other players up to their level and so far have done anything but.

Disgraceful not the players you lot call yourself fans, This is football stuff happens our own errors led to the only goal Webster looked a little off the pace which is not surprising as he's been out injured and this was only his second game back, Gross chasing back trying to cover was reluctant to tackle inside our box, we failed to clear and the ball was poked in, this happens but no one was to blame the team second half put in a good shift Maupay as he always does worked hard and was unlucky not to score, the result is not good but come on we are seven points clear and we move onto Leeds

First half we were poor but we improved massively 2nd half and were very unlucky to not at least get a draw .

Win against Leeds and we are 95% safe . It’s not all bad . Even top clubs have poor 45 mins , unfortunately it cost us the game .

Agreed, except I'm not convinced Gross was as bad as Maupay. I really don't understand why he gets so many starts when we have so many other options. AJ looked good, one of his crosses was SUper league ready, strikers nowhere near it.

Agreed, we can afford to have one but not both on the pitch.

Sanchez 7 Dealt well with record no of back passes many originating from throws in attacking half
Welbeck 4 Not comfortable out wide especially with little help from WB. Never coped with Macgoldrick
Dunk 6 Maybe no midfielders available but so many long aimless passes
Veltman 7 Good game. Only one able to drive forward trying to make something happen
Gross 4 Out of position Very poor Contributed little . For what he did in defence may as well have played Alli from start.
Moder 4 Another out of position and contributed nothing out wide.
Bissouma 8 Apart from shooting thought he was outstanding. First time I have seen him cut out big errors.
Lalana 4 Big disappointment. Our DM gave up waiting and ended up trying to create near box.
Trossard 5 With Moder out wide and Welbeck and Maupay up front forced to play deep which doesnt suit him. For the little defending Moder does may as well have played him wing back
Maupay 4 He will look back on this season and see he had an unbelievable amount of chances
Welbeck 4 In that position you have to make things happen and he so often doesnt
Like Macgoldrick did you want your CFs to give defence a hard time and ours so often do the opposite..Will never get over why Connelly came on

The thing about that starting eleven is too many of them flit in and out of of games or completely fail to influence them. Trossard, Welbeck, Moder, Gross can all have moments but are largely ineffectual.

Sanchez 6
Veltman 6
Dunk 6
Webster 5
Moder 6 A shot that was on target and beat the goalie!! Shame he had been offside before that.
Bissouma 7 As usual, best player but cannot shoot on target!
Lallana 6 Very poor shooting.
Gross 6 Nice turn. Some good crosses. shame we have nobody capable of scoring from them.
Trossard 5 Where was he playing? Hardly noticed him.
Welbeck 5 worked hard but didn't score which is his main job.
Maupay 4 Over the bar from 2 yardsFFS!
AJ 7 created some good stuff . Perhaps a starter one day soon.
Connolly n/a
Izqeirdo 10 just for getting onto the pitch at long last and for one of our best shots on goal in the whole game!
Potter 5 Thought the subs were too late again.
Ref - 5 Goal was offside TBF

Chances created in the Premier League since the turn of the year, :

5) Pascal Gross – 37
4) Raphinha – 38
3) Bruno Fernandes – 42
2) Mason Mount – 43
1) Luke Shaw – 50
