Seems like a love in on the Swansea boards, after Marcos did the "swim away" gesture to the Cardiff fans
Think he got booked for it

Hasnt lost his roots, fair play to him, and they have good words to say about his time there.

Apparently it relates to an incident when the Swans chased Cardiff fans into the sea, and doing it winds them up so much

It wasn't until the 2nd half that Painter got pelters from the Cardiff fans. Thats what it sounded like on the radio, was it not until then the Cardiff fans realised he was a former Swansea player?!

Hardly even noticed the Cardiff fans were there last night. Shows just how good the atmosphere is at the Amex, I only hope it stays like it.

It is the ultimate wind-up to Cardiff fans .... the history goes back over 20 years when a dozen Cardiff fans were chased into the sea by Swansea supporters and told to swim for it!
Guess, Painter still holds loyalties to the Swans ... and has a great sense of humour too!

They basically only remembered he played for Swansea when he reminded them with the gesture! I certainly hadn't heard any booing before that point.

What a legend our Marcos is! punk:
Thanks for clearing that up Francis and Somerset. You could certainly hear the jeers on the radio when Adderley and Claridge reminded the listeners he'd played for Swansea before.

Reading the banter on their boards, what does the Ayatollah/head slapping refer to re Swansea?

According to http://www.footballjokes.co.uk/songschants/cardiff_city.html
"This bizarre offering of a few years ago is explained by television footage from Iran when news of the Ayatollah Khomeini's death spread. People took to the streets slapping their heads as a sign of grief and, as the Bluebirds were having a bad time of things themselves around then, they adopted this chant as a symbol of grief at their predicament"

To be fair to Cardiff they have taken defeat with huge dignity, which is rare to find on the internet.
