My old man is coming up from Wales for the weekend for a visitation and Im looking for something to fill Saturday up with. I think he might like to have a looksie at the Amex followed by a pub lunch somewhere nearby. Can anyone advise a) where the best view (Ditchling for example?) can be obtained from a distance is? and b) of a nice pub in the locale? Will be driving down from East Grimblestead but can re-route to take in the view.

Cheers

The view as you come down the Falmer Road from Wooders is pretty unsurpassable but it's going to be a stretch getting to the top of the Falmer Road from East Grinstead without going past the stadium from the A27.

You could take the route out of East Grinstead through to Lewes [rather than the M23] and cut through to Newhaven and come up over Rottingdean. Maybe then go to The Swan at Falmer for some nosh?

Very nice thought for your old man, btw

Park at Ditchling Beacon car park - cross the road and a perfect view. Drive down into Ditchling and go to The Bull for a drink and a bite. Perfect

Thanks all Lewes/Newhaven/Woodingdean is favourite at the moment and then the Bull at Ditchling for Luncheon! Agree with Fire&Skill about it being a nice thought for the old man ... hopefully his wife (number 4 incidentally) will feel the same!

Park in Falmer village and take a wander across the road for a decent look too.
There are sheep in the field opposite as well.

As well as Ditchling Beacon and the road from Woodingdean, you can also park in the small car park near the top of Ditchling Road (just up from the golf course). You get a nice view from there too.

It is the only time it looks like our stadium is in an AONB.
