Littlehampton - what is it like for a family day out?

...I know you've all been waiting for this -

WE REALLY ENJOYED IT AND WANT TO GO BACK!

Lovely sunny day, did most of the things we wanted to - funfair, scootered along the prom to the playground and thence to the park with the lake (boats not working sadly), miniature railway back. Walked down by the river to the heritage centre (didn't go in) and even sampled the ice creams dipped in choccy that some have alluded to on here. Mummy and larger Potting went down to the sea and got a bit wet!

Didn't go into the town in view of the fact (according to some on this thread) that it is a seething, festering pit of degradation and filth from which we would be unlikely to emerge alive.

Nice place, plenty of space on the prom and the grassy bits behind, next time we visit will try and explore the other side of the river as that sounds nice to visit on a sunny day.

Spotted "the Stripes" on the beach (with a smaller Seagull wearing a pink badged fleece) near the river mouth - was it you?

And here are some pics for you - the harbour bit that my eldest thought was like France (mainly because of the people sitting outside the cafe by the heritage centre) and also us on the watersplash at the funfair!

Good show.

I thought you might enjoy it.
It's never going to 'set the world alight' but there's plenty there, and as you said the space to do it in.

It's certainly wasn't the jnr stat's.
There'd be a completely different thread titled something along the lines of:-
'Got run over by 2 little kids, in strips, on bikes, screaming I'm Wiggo, ok I'm Cav'

Pleased you enjoyed it, you are right about the town, just go to Rustington should you want anything like that.

That looks stormin Norman.

Sounds like a proper family day out. Great photo of the harbour.

Glad you liked the pic - taken with a 7 year old Olympus SP700 digital "point and shoot" on panorama setting, 3 pictures stitched together in trice using their "Camedia" software if anyone is interested.
