Yes, which is why I asked. This is even being reported on the BBCSport website.

Which is different to us just taking a prospect on loan for a season to help the parent club develop their player - it’s that type of loan deal we don’t do anymore

I'm also of the view that this 'isn't our style', but just look at what Gallagher did for Palace last season, you never know.

If it's true, I'd love it to include a buy option, but hugely unlikely.

But look where they are now.

Hardest start to season, without their best player from last season and no money to show for it.

Regarding the holes in the Brighton team. why fix a leaky bucket with a temporary measure, when we have an abundance of fringe players that could do that, we should be past fixing a leaky bucket, we should be going out and buying a new friggin bucket, yeah ?

City can afford to buy him outright, we do not need sweeteners, or special deals that help them out by nurturing delap and helping them.

B&Q are selling plastic buckets for a £1.

It seemed to work wonders for Crystal Palace and Conor Gallagher. Ditto Southampton and Broja.

I know some clubs are more amenable to these types of deals than others, but I think you have to be flexible and take each deal on its merits. If Liam Delap is the next Phil Foden then we'd be stupid not to consider it.

Seems like nonsense to me. Why would we bother taking a loanee when we've already got 1,500 of our own? I'm sure Potter would prefer to blood in Mitoma or Khadra (as examples) than develop another club's talent.

Unless he has a MASSIVE throw like his Dad...

Post of the year, it did make me laugh :lolol:

Well we wouldn't be allowed to loan him from Man City and then re-loan him out to USG, so it would have to be a direct loan to USG... but that would probably not look good when the albion always like to play down links between the clubs.

Plus, we look likely to have just bought a striker from Denmark for them to borrow this season.

These kind of stories really should help Albion fans sort out who's reports are worthy of a second look and who knows nothing.

If you have 100 people each with a blunderbuss and get them to fire at a target, statistically some of them will be more successful than others; that is a really bad reason to put them in the shooting team.

This. Can't understand the negativity. OK, so may have been Ashworth policy not to have loanees but let that be Newcastle's issue. Get him in, I say.

I know he was born in Winchester (literally 100 yards from where I used to live, funnily enough) but he doesn't by any chance qualify to play for OYRELAND through his Dad's citizenship does he?

The kid declared for England when he was 15 - and I respect him for it.

I for one just don't think you do enough talking up of Irish players and should do much more of it. (even though they are clearly utter gash on the international stage these days)
The Irish team traditionally were better than their individual parts - at the moment Kenny is sh*te and the team is not remotely close to being as good as their individual parts. As I have said - there are quite a few very talented young players coming through the ranks - and with a decent manager they will suprise a lot in the future. Look for Nathan Collins to make a big impact on the PL next season - and Potter should sign him - he would be a big player at Brighton if he did.

Not going to happen as a loan. Don’t want it to happen as a loan.

Using Connor Gallagher as an example just shows a misunderstanding of how these things work. What is actually happening is Chelsea have a better player. The Scum have now lost their best player with zero financial benefit to reinvest. Of course, he was great for them last season, but I don’t want us to waste our coaching resources developing another club’s brilliant youngsters.

Well said.

We get the full fee then we re-invest. No messing about with temporary makeweights to lower the price.

If Duffy and Clarke also leave we join up our thinking on replacements , do a mini defensive overhaul and get 2 left sided defenders in.
