"Levi Colwill is “a problem” for tomorrow’s game and De Zerbi confirmed Lewis Dunk will be partnered by either Adam Webster or Jan Paul van Hecke"
I’d go with Van Hecke. Thought he looked very assured and I am not a big fan of throwing centre backs straight back in the team when returning from injury.

Buy him, or send him back. Developing JPVHshoukd be the priority, he's our player. Colwill is excellent but we don't need short term cover players blocking the longer term players for our team.
But he’s exceptional.

Why limit / disadvantage ourselves for no reason. JPVH would have gone out on loan but he wouldn’t / won’t sign a long term deal

Bugger. He's been so so important to our play recently. Webster is a great ball carrier, will be interesting to see how his passing is in this style.

I'm not too upset. Yes he's been great, but we have other very good CBs and Levi wont be here long term anyway.

Because he'll be playing for someone else next season and we get nothing for him. It's bad business. JPVH has waited his turn and deserves his chance. Give him a run and maybe he will sign a new deal and be another high value sale in a few years or be a new bedrock of the team. We haven't got where we are through developing other teams' players for free.

No one deserves a chance, they get it in on merit and performances. If neither Potter or RDZ deem him ready or the best player in that position then we have to trust them.

The club have a policy not to loan out players without a deal in place for the same reason you’ve given - to let a loan club develop him only for him to walk on a free.

Anyway if he gets his chance will be interesting to see how he gets on

The issue here is that Webby will almost certainly get the nod because he has proven experience of playing well as the left of a two and Van Hecke and Veltman less so.

Moving Dunk to the left side seems pointless under those circumstances. It's a problem we only have to deal with in the highly unlikely scenario of Webby getting injured

Agree with the comments above that, brilliant though Levi has been, the longer term view is that youngsters should be looking at us as a place where they can be getting a chance and if we're putting Chelsea loanees in front of them that makes us a harder sell.

Pick the best team to win every game, to hell with development when every game pushes us towards a challenge for Europe

We don't know that. For all we know he might well fancy Doing The Lamptey Walk out of the chorus line at mid-table strugglers Chelsea. And they might just be dumb enough to let him go. Never say never

Every weekend, every day, win at home and win away, you’ll find us all doing the Lamptey walk, hey!

That's a blow, he's been instrumental in our distribution from the back recently and although I rate Webster, he always has an error in him when returning to the team after an injury layoff.

Don't get the argument about not caring as Colwill's not our player etc - if we're seriously looking to have a strong finishing position we need our strongest team fit and playing, Colwill falls into that bracket currently.

This. He certainly gives 100% for us. Or 60% for RDZ :moo:
