My laptop keeps switching itself off and i don't know whoelse to turn too!
I've had to buy 1 of those universal chargers (as previous 1 broke) and everytime the chargers in it seems to overpower itself which leads to it to turn itself off.
The charger settings are right i just don't know what to do??? Does this happen to anyone else?

is the computer getting really hot when it shuts itself down?

Sounds like over heating. I'm had a few that have done that over the years.

Worst one was a Dell. Could only be used on a table. Stick it on the floor and it would last about ten minutes.

Daz, there's a kiddie who post on here HotLips69 I think he's called who seems to help people out with there laptops. Mine seems to last no time at all on battery power so I have to plug the fucker into the mains all the time. And it still overheats (especially in this heat) and slows to a crawl after prolonged use.

self shut down is a safety feature on laptops when they over heat. you can get cooling stations, or clear the fans out as they are likely clogged with dust and hair.

This is good advice, better still if it has feet on sit them on something else like half a wine cork to give some extra clearance.

Sometimes if you have windows updates on it will automatically reboot and if unattended, can result in unsaved work - Microsoft too smart for their own good sometimes.

If not, per other suggestions, run it on a flat table to see if better air circulation stops the problem.

Looks like that is the problem.

If you are using like that, stick it on a big book - something that simply acts as a hard base.

Some laptops seem to be better than others. The one I am typing on now is quite happy on a carpet, but I've got another that would last a few minutes on a duvet.

All depends on where the fan is trying to blow out air.

Just spotted this thread......is this problem still happening or has it been resolved?

I can certainly assist you if it's overheating or just needs a general internal "service" which includes a thorough cleaning of the fan(s) and associated heatsinks which are likely to be caked in dust gathered over the life of the laptop.

It's very effective!!

I put mine on a wooden tray so the air circulates under it and also move it around as it does get hot. I agree with the battery problem as well - I have to plug mine in a lot or the battery suddenly drains itself and the laptop goes dead.
