Not only that, but reportedly, the "tax-free" part of his Saudi wages depends on him working there for something like 2 years. If he quits early, he'll owe £7m in taxes.
He would have no resale value, and would command a significant fee, so from a business model stand-point, it is a NO.
His current salary is eye-watering, so even at a huge drop, it would be our highest. So, from a wage structure stand-point, its a NO.
His appalling volte-face on LBGT rights, in return for the dirty dollar, means that from a moral stand-point, it is a NO.
Which just leaves the FOOTBALL stand-point. He's a midfield runner and pointer, who can no longer run. So, that's a NO too.
On balance, NO.

In addition to not checking out exactly what he was signing up to (as I mentioned before), he probably didn't think about that aspect of the money he was 'earning'...
And as for the 'Yes, If De Zerbi wants him' option - Roberto is a fabulous tactician, coach and motivator - but who has so far cajoled the club into one personally selected signing - who six months later he has found to be lacking in 'quality, personality, energy and enthusiasm'.

It's a big IF tbf!…
The comparisons to Milner and Lallana are obvious, and why it would seem a possibility on paper. If he was available on a free and had a season or two left in him and would accept sensible wages with a view to moving into a coaching role once he hangs up his boots, he would be a really good signing.
But none of that is the case. Interesting to see what happens with him though.

How many coaching roles are there? We've already got a two ex-Liverpool players who apparently have had a nod and a wink about getting another role.
But why on earth would we want him in the 'Milner / Lallana' role, when we have er, Milner and Lallana already. Add in Danny Welbeck, Jason Steele, Pascal Groß and Joel Veltman and I'd say that's enough senior, model pros, for any number of young players to learn from.
(Not to mention Inigo Calderon back at the club).
Well mainly because we really need a CDM. Someone like Baleba could definitely learn from him.
We thought we had plenty of coaches before, and they all pissed off to Chelsea once Potter got his chance.

I sort of get where you are coming from. If we did sign him, he'd blatantly get time in our team and I reckon would do OK.
From a purely footballing point of view, a 6 month deal makes sense for him, he'll get decent PL minutes with a view to a tournament swansong this summer, it sort of makes sense for us, Dahoud hasn't worked and RDZ doesn't yet trust Baleba.
But I would go with the multitude who recognise that there's more to this than football.

What a dreary, pitiful waste of time and dignity this has been. The speed with which Henderson has grown disillusioned with his altruistic Saudi endeavour is as grim as it is predictable.
