(Jimmy Saville) A question about child abuse?

Reading the Jimmy glad he's dead Saville thread I thought I would start another linked to throw a question out there for debate.

I know there are exceptions to this and people will surely throw some names into the ring (Hindley , West etc). But is it only men that seem to abuse children in this way?

You rarely hear of a female abusing children. Is it as bigger an issue in society or are they just a better gender?.

When I say better I only mean better in the subject context. I do not mean driving, sport, telling jokes, business sense etc. those are not up for debate :shootself

If a man fiddles with a teenage girl hes a fiddler if a woman does it boy gets called a lucky sod. I think its just gender perspective and there are as many female wrong uns and male ones

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I think the laws are completely different for woman? A woman sexually abusing an under age boy is treated differently to a man abusing an under age girl.

You're right. There are just as many female child abusers out there as males. It's just that the lads bloody LOVE It!

From experience working in child safety there are significant numbers of female abusers both operating individually and with partners. A great deal is about societal perceptions

Males and females are different. If you look at apes, the alpha male has sex with anything it fancies having sex with. That's the way it works among apes. We have descended from the same ancestors as apes, and so it shouldn't be surprising that some humans have difficulty fitting in with the rules our society has made.

I'm pretty sure that more men break the law in this regard than women.

I highly doubt it.

You're wrong. There is a difference in that a woman cannot commit a rape though. The equivalent offence covers the same penalty though.

I dont recall anyone saying they were glad he is dead? I'm sure most who posted on there wish he was still alive so he could be tried and so the truth could out.

Maybe after he was tried and if found guilty then yes I'm sure many would wish death upon a habitual paedophile.

That's a ridiculous argument, almost on a par with the "boys will be boys" excuse for bad behaviour.

If we have succeeded in evolving from apes, it's because humanity has changed its behaviour over the millions of years that it's taken.

We are animals essentially, who have hormonal needs but have been socialised to repress them. Men have a greater sex drive than women based on evolution. Unless god did it of course :)

Lord Bracknell has not evolved very well if he thinks that is ridiculous.

From what I have read I believe there are many more female child sexual abusers than we know about. I think people find it much harder to get their head around a female abuser so they are less likely to be spotted, a male paying to much attention to a young child might be looked on more suspiciously than a women doing the same thing.

The general reaction to the teacher and 15 yr old pupil scenario is interesting. It is generally accepted that women mature quicker and than boys therefore if anyone has been taken advantage of, surely it would be a 15 yr old boy more than a 15 yr old girl. It seems that the media accuse any male who has had sex with an under age girl as being a paedophile whereas the outcry seems to be less severe when a woman is accused.

Da Man Clay, a woman can now be charged with rape as the law was extended in 2003 I believe to include the use of fingers or objects.

No she can't. Rape is penetration of the mouth, vagina or anus with a penis. A woman cannot be charged with rape I assure you. Mouth was added to the 2003 update. You're thinking of the offence of sexual assault by penetration.

Of course! You are entirely correct. Don't know whether to be annoyed I got that wrong or pleased that I don't have intimate knowledge of this country's rape laws!
