I really wish they would just bin it off. Very unsettling for clubs like us who have to deal with endless enquiries/speculation about our best players.

Should just make it loan signings only. Once the summer window closes, clubs should have to stick with the same squad for the rest of the season.

Don't see it happening. It is fragile enough as it is. If some club hungry to buy players would go to EU court and challenge a decision to ban the January transfer window, the decision would probably be that "transfer windows are actually breaking the freedom of movement for workers policy and clubs in all EU countries can now buy whoever they want whenever they want".

Not that I think there is too much opposition to it. The hype around it is valuable for football. And while not the case in the PL, a lot of clubs around the world might have to sell players every now and then for survival.

It also creates more of a balance between leagues playing autumn-spring and those playing spring-autumn. Imagine a hypothetical scenario where the Brazilian league becomes the strongest and richest in the world. Since they usually play from April/May to December, their pre-season transfer window would have to be in January-March or something. They could in that scenario just buy players from clubs in leagues that don't have a winter transfer window, without giving those clubs any chance of replacing their players.
