Ifs and ifs....Madeira half way between Cape Verde and mainland Portugal may have had a good team present day team ,without Portuguese colonisation, with one of the the worlds best players leading their attacks.

where the hell is Cape Verde? im pretty good with my geography, but cant say ive ever heard of the place.

More of a surprise for me to learn the Cape Verde Islands are ranked about the same as Wales & Scotland by Fifa. When I saw that game on the fixtures list earlier in the day, I'd assumed it was roughly equivalent to England playing against Bermuda or the Falklands

Wanted to say both these points. 38th in the world for a team I've never heard of, and can't point to on a map is bloody impressive. Especially as I consider my geography fairly strong. It looks like Portugal are playing a weakened team as I only recognise a few of their names, but perhaps they're using full names rather than nicknames in this instance.
