Not too sure that the expectation that we are already up really affects A or B?
I think that the sentence :
"If the worst nightmare happens and we don't go up automatically "
explains my concern.
To explain:
Many posters are assuming we are going up.
We could just fail to do so.
If that happens A or B will apply. Hope that clarifies things for you
