This table with a column for population would be interesting. Who under and over performs. As the table is from 1872 the population column could only be indicative.

Edit: Also what about the Channel Islands? They’ve produced at least 2 England internationals.

Several players born abroad - not just Owen Hargreaves, Wilf Zaha, John Barnes etc. There were several players who were born in India who played for England.

So Tambling and Barry the only ones since the war. Plus only Cook and Coleman since the Great War. Along with only 24 caps in total apart from Barry's. Astonishing.

We seem to be as disproportionately bad at producing footballers, population wise, as India. Weird.
