3. Even though I had tickets for all 4. Missed the FA Cup Final first game as Sgt Ken Woods (you bastard) would not sign off my day's leave request Debated going AWOL for a day, but thought better of it!

Do I detect a smidgeon of bitterness after all these years?

Play off at Wembley and hopefully the one in May.

3 - I missed the 2-2 at Wembley as I was on a family holiday. My dad booked it back in September, and when he told me the dates I rushed to my fixture list and groaned "Dad, we're gonna miss the Cup Final!" To which my dad uttered the words he has never been allowed to forget, "Well, it's not as if BRIGHTON are going to get there!"

Credit to my dad for buying a VCR prior to going on holiday, and back in 1983, ones with 14 day timers were the top end of the market.
Credit to my brother (older and not on the family holiday) for sorting me out with a ticket for the Replay. He walked in with it on the Monday night just after I'd finished pulling my hair out watching the Smith miss on video.

I managed to get to all four of those!

I still think back to that play off final result against Notts County as the most disappointing of all. Even getting stuffed four nil by United in the FA Cup replay, and having to suffer their fans baring their arses at us afterwards wasn't as bad!
