Five years. I think Liverpool were banned for a further year but didn't qualify anyway

would teams in a world football where money Talks more than ever, today be banned for 5 years ??

can you honestly see Man Utd being kicked out of Europe for 5 the same thing today?, mind you Roy keane has commited acts of thuggery many a time in europe and got away with it!

I think Heysel was end of the prev era in football, the new money football was starting to be born at that stage!!

Although I could be wrong!!

the real time for money coming into the game was when liverpool were the 1st club to put a sponser on their shirt. starting a new age of sponsership and money. the death of loyalty proceeded.

Reckon money came in with the birth of the Premiership coupled with the Sky's mass TV coverage - as soon as premieship was born, so too did the idea of football as a brand to be sold. Cue first division chairman wanting a bit of the action - ideas of premiership 2 leading to...The Championship.
But i could well be wrong...
