as 10cc say, not in hove
a simply question this:

i've noticed over the years that on the rather/ very unusual occasion that i meet somebody from nsc "in the flesh" that they are invariably more pleasant (or as pleasant) than their online persona. there are course exceptions.

is it simply that some folks will be as rude/dismissive/billy-big-bollocks as they like while online but wouldn't act like this in the real world? (and i don't simply mean keyboard warriors) or are there some people who match their online persona very well?

Ive met several NSC's in the flesh on my last two trips to England and everyone has been great. No shocks or anything so that was a plus.....think I was the only one to shock the likes of @The_Peanut_Roaster rand Taybha :lolol:

Interesting question.

I think in written communications such as a forum or email with people you don't know personally, often some things can be lost in translation. I often think that where people are disagreeing with each other on here, there is sometimes more on common than you can see. I think it's often that people misread things in written communication and that can err on the negative rather than the positive. It is much easier to communicate and feel at ease face to face.

Or they are just trying to wind each other up :lolol:

I would hope I'm more pleasant, but no doubt some would disagree.

This site isn't like the real world. There's more fishing here, and more taking the piss and shooting down. I find it funny, and I'm (hopefully) a lot ruder on this site than anywhere else.

I know a few people from here in real life. Like to think I'm pretty much the same sarcastic, opinionated but nice chap on both.

There is one poster with a very high post count that I personally find very rude and aggressive on here especially towards anything that isn't pro club. It may be just his posting style and I read it that way but I have had to put him on ignore a couple of times because I just cannot stand reading it.
I have never met him but I imagine many have and I just wonder if the reality is the same.

 Ha ha, funny enough I was going to say that you can be probably more scary in real life than on here

I met *you* in real life once and you weren't the MOANING MINNIE you are on here. :lolol: :lolol: :lolol:

I do believe I could guess the chap you are referring to, by the way.

I like to think I am quite erudite and witty on here, with in-depth knowledge on a range of specialist subjects to which I aspire to present others with useful information and humorous anecdotes.

In real life, however, I am quite thick and cannot string a coherent sentence together.

this is the kind of thing i was getting at, without being poster-specific

I'm a lot more shy and quiet in real life. I don't think I come across as a "keyboard warrior" on here, though - just more inclined to give my take on a thread. At least I hope I don't come across as one.

I'm EVEN MORE of an arrogant wanker in real life than I am on here.
