Forgive my stupidity but how on earth did a Home Championship have anything to do with WC votes ?

To play the likes of Trinidad and Tobago and laterly Thailand, but that has now been scrapped since the World Cup fix oops i mean vote. We will now play that other powerhouse, Ghana at Wemberly

Because why waste your international breaks playing Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland (and perhaps the Republic), when you can arrange friendlies against the mighty Trinidad and Tobago, Thailand, exhibition games in Qatar etc etc...
