Voted for The Cure as I knew The Smiths would already have plenty of support. The Smiths could win the whole thing.

Indeed. What the actual ****? Pastafarian is deliberately RIGGING these polls against the indiepopkids.

Two groups of MOR shit like the Human ****ing League and ****ing Genesis, and then he puts The Smiths AND The Cure AND Echo and the Bunnymen all in the same pot. Pastafarian OUT.

Oh we'll do the poll for you next time shall we!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Shut up and vote!

Calm down petal - I voted three hours ago.

Its TRADITIONAL to berate the organisers of NSC polls, and to hurl accustaions of rigging, bias and cheating at them. Traditions are important.

A lot of these bands straddle the late 70s and 80s, therefore I am determining my vote purely on output in the 1980s.

Looking at that list (bar Dire Straits) has made me realise how obsessed I am by Echo and the Bunnymen.

The Smiths it is. ( going to end up being a final between them and The Jam )

Overall, The Stranglers are a much better band, but just for 80's stuff it's not them is it. Shame. Serves 'em right for straddling more than one decade.
