After servicing the signal lamps... feck off was my way of checking the handle flow...I forgot to turn the light off before doing it when leaving Portsmouth, and a Esso Tanker leaving Southampton gave me a roger... :-(

I've seen another one similar to that, but the arms seem better positioned:

Unfortunately some other people have added to it and not in a positive way.

Grafitti on a Lewes wall in the 70's after the French boycotted buying our lamb read

"if the French won't buy our lambs, we won't buy their letters"

Another.

One that made me smile on a narrowboat holiday last year, someone had sprayed on one of the bridges

Look more vandalism!

Back in the 70's in the reign of Maggie and the dominance of the Aussie cricketers.
Someone wrote "THATCHER OUT!" on a subway wall [if I recall]
And underneath someone else had added "LBW Alderman"

On a university library toilet door circa 1989: "Doctor Who is ace", someone had added underneath "No he isn't that's Sophie Aldred"

On a school text book sometime around 2003 was a similar picture to below

on which someone had scrawled 'Is it cos I is black?"
