[Albion] GP: I think that anyone who criticises someone like Dan Burn doesn't understand football.

It was Webster at fault as he failed to move closer to Salah as BDB moved up to press Alexander Arnold in anticipation of a pass. The space left by that one lapse was effectively exploited by Liverpool.

Of course if you knew anything about football ...

Not sure why GP needs to make a little dig like that. I suppose it show’s he’s human but given his academic background in EI I am a bit surprised.

I disagree that it was Webby’s fault. He is LCB NOT LWB. Burn caused the danger by being completely out of position. TBF Burn got better. Webby was MOM for me.

There's about 25 other players in the squad who were also "contributors" to non-won games and very few of them got the level of shiet BDB had to take for having 4 or 5 bad performances in 49 league games.

Swanny - I understand your loyalty to BDB, but... he is a backup LCB IMHO, and much better at LCB. Play him at LWB and we are weaker. Unfortunately, unless we go for Karbownik, I expect BDB will be playing LWB a lot only because of Solly’s injury. You have been warned.

He needs to go and spend £45m on a replacement I guess. After he buys you your £60m striker obviously.

Would be good to have better cover for Solly, maybe Karbownik?

The whole strategy of our defensive play was to nullify TAA and Robertson, pressing and harrying as high up the field as possible. It’s been effective for most teams against them lately. Burn anticipated a cross field pass to TAA and headed towers him, Webster however did not notice or move across as the LCB in a 3 man defence. In that split second Salah was in more space that he should have been and received a simple ball over the top.

Anyway, what we both agree on was their excellence that evening.

Its a forum where you dont need to be a registrered user to read. There is absolutely no way of knowing if any of them visit NSC or not.

This is the biggest BHAFC forum on the internet. If there was some internet forum where people on a daily basis gave you direct feedback on your workplace and your performances as an individual, would you not visit it? Perhaps not. But I'm willing to bet that at least 1 in 30 would.

I did wonder whether any active players or staff were members on here, guess we will never know

Never understood how an opinion about a players performances in any game is is considered criticism. Burn could well be an outstanding CB but is not a full back or wing back. Type of player great for a manager to have in squad. Apart from one of few who is left footed will give his all, all game. Apart from a poor first 20mins as Liverpool pressed they left lots of space and Burns awareness and use of this was very good. There wont be many games he has that much room to go forward and it will be how he defends that counts. As long as as he doesnt give ball away and not in one to one situations we will be o

And maybe ask YOURSELF what the reaction to recent results would have been at the Amex with 30,000 fans there? Potter's been pretty cushioned compared to what Hughton had to endure in real time. December 2020 would have been the exact same fans-at-each-others-throats scenario, apart from due to covid it only gets played out on here. Potter got lucky on that score

Ah, I get it, you're an old 1970's clogger, a cock that knows nothing about football. If you don't like potter's type of courage, there's always forest

I don't like the article.

Fans and Journalists have long memories.

If there is a bad run of results again or if Burn makes a couple of mistakes again they will throw it in his his face even harder.

He is 100% correct to defend the the lad but to when you suggest to fans they don't know what they are talking about then you set yourself up for a fall. Imagine if the comment had been made a couple of weeks ago. He would have been slaughtered. I like the Graham Potter that flies under the radar with comments. These ones won't help. Anything said in that article could have just as easily have been said to Dan in private.

Interesting. Maybe he felt the need to highlight it, certainly better man management than slagging him off after Wolves. Quite impressive psychology imo

Burn has been a big part of the Potter revolution over the last year. A manager who publicly defends his players, even if it includes a dig at the media/fans is not a bad trait.

Feck the journos btw, they can’t even bring anything interesting to pre and post match press conferences 90% of the time

Love how Potter shows unwavering support to the players. Some on here should take note...

When Potter couldn't buy a home win back in November he was having a pop at the supporters then, how soon we forget, the bloke is a cockwomble.

P.S. I for one have never criticised DB.

It's a dangerous game to have spats with the Media. Just look at how every on of them are waiting for Jose Mourhinio to fall flat on his arse at every opportunity.

They are even starting to turn on Jurgen Klopp this year and he was their " Darling " last year when he was smiling and joking with them. As soon as you criticise them the knives come out. And time is on their side.

They just sit and wait and cut your throat in a dark alley at the earliest opportunity.

I thought you turned the corner and were Potter in after we beat Liverpool?

Sad state of affairs. Alex Ferguson treated them with complete disdain though, never did him any harm. Potter will hopefully take a leaf out of his book and send a minion out for press conferences if they turn on him

Code:

Only once he had what I would call " settled status "

Alex also had the backup of a lot of Journalists that he often socialised with after matches but it took him years to cultivate those relationships and he was also friends with a lot of Editors who covered his back. Especially when he came out in support of Cantona after his Kung Fu Kick.

Potter doesn't have that unwavering support from Editors. We are also in a different Era with the Internet where fans are virtually journalists as well.

I would just say beware with such comments. It isn't too a massive attack on doing it from me. I just personally don't like it.

I've edged onto the fence, you can't knock winning matches against the top six, masterclass on Wednesday night.

I'm happy to be proved wrong and to be fair Potter is now going in right direction.

P.S. I don't have to like him.

But he has a pet name for you and everything. He was asked at a presser the other day - what do you of neilbard. A smile crinkled his face as he replied "Who - the Foxhat?"
