People are far too dismissive of our young batters. As I pointed out last week, (including this game) Salt, Haines and FHP have played nine FC between them - that's nothing for players making their way. Haines is only 17, really young in cricketing terms and is very highly rated at Sussex. T

hey may not make it but it's way too early to be dismissing them - they'll certainly play a handful of games next season while they try to make their mark - I don't think anyone expects them to be regulars for a couple of years.
And in the mean time what?

Totally agree....

If there's no money for better older pros then these lads will have to play. Lets hope this season is the springboard to having a good season next year.

Personally I think Phil Salt has a big future in county cricket and would love to see him make a big score for his confidence that he can do it at this level.

I think Sussex need to recruit one experienced batsman from outside, possibly two if the money's there but that would be the limit. The young lads need to play a bit more - Salt has done well in OD cricket, time for him to step up and I'd like to see Haines given more of a chance.

I think the future looks bright for Sussex: Haines, Salt, Finch, Rawlins, Archer, Garton, Whittingham (maybe FHP and Sakande too) - that's a good crop coming through

Ollie Robinson on his way to the crease for a bit of a bash...
