Still 43 points behind Essex although a game in hand.

Our 2 home games are against 2 of the top 3 so can make up further ground of we win those, but as only one goes up this season still a long outside bet particularly if Essex beat Glamorgan at home

The problem with the next game is that Yootha and Jordan are on international duty - and we're already missing Finch and (presumably) Machan with injuries. Our batting is going to look threadbare with only Nasher, Wells and (to a certain extent) Brown in any sort of form. It looks like we'll have to play two out of Haines, Davis, Hudson-Prentice and Salt - unless we can borrow a batsman from somewhere.

I reckon Ollie Robinson may return to bolster the tail-end, it's going to be grim otherwise
