Dont know if anyone has seen this movie pre release, but i have just finished watching a reasonable copy. Its Clint eastwoods take on Iwo Jima. Must say that the opening scenes were pretty impressive (akin in some to Saving Private Ryan) but after that i found it became a dissappointing mish mash of flashbacks that completely disjointed the whole movie for me. all thru the film the battle scenes were very realistic and far from gung ho imho, but it was the backgroud story back in the states about who really held the flag, that dragged. A bit like the pearl harbour movie, 30 mins of pretty realistic action and the rest drivel...anyway that was just my take on it, wanted it to be so much more so overall dissappointed 6/10 at a stretch. a typical example i guess of previews of films pretty much showing all the good bits.

Not my cup of tea. Pale Rider and The Outlaw Josey Wales are the only decent films Clint has ever directed.
